By Glowpink Staff

Applying a facial scrub is very important, it gently exfoliates your skin and helps you to get rid of dead skin cells to reveal a brighter and younger version of yourself. A lot of us just apply them without going through the instructions and often chose the products that are not suitable for our skin type. You can either prepare an organic scrub at the comfort of your home or purchase a commercial scrub in accordance with your skin type. Check this article to know – How to prepare facial scrub at home

how to apply facial scrub

1. Take a good amount of facial scrub on your palm and apply it on your face, neck, and cleavage. Start rubbing slowly. When rubbing your face do it in a circular motion.

2. Cleavage part is very delicate, so be extra careful when rubbing it

3. When rubbing is done, wash with lukewarm water and dry with a soft towel

4. Before purchasing the commercial product, read the label or outer packaging to find out more about the expiry date of the product.

5. If you have blackheads and whiteheads, then make sure you steam your face before scrubbing to make it more effective.

6. Add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil to lift up your spirits, if you have active acne or if you have extremely sensitive skin then stick to tea tree essential oil only.

7. Then take a generous amount of your scrub on your fingertips and apply it all over your face.

8. If you have an exfoliating brush with soft bristles, then use it for better results, if you do not have an exfoliating brush then all you have to do is, gently scrub your face in a circular motion applying light pressure.

9. Keep doing it for about 15 minutes or so.

10. Be gentle, do not scrub your skin abrasively as it will break out your sensitive skin.

11. After that, you can just splash some tepid water on your face and pat dry with a towel. Alternatively, you can wipe your face off with a wet towel.

12. Apply a toner and then a moisturizer.

13. If you want to do a complete facial at home, then apply a face pack after wiping off your scrub.

14. Make sure that your scrub has tiny granules if it has a coarse texture, then it will break out your skin and it may also lead to minor cuts.

15. If you have oily skin, try opting for walnut scrub with a gel base and if you have dry skin then opt for a cream based scrub.

16. Remember, that scrub will only exfoliate your skin and make it brighter, it does not have a skin lightening effect and it won’t change your skin color.

17. Read the instructions carefully before using the product, if it says it is an exfoliating scrub, then use a facial cleanser before using the scrub.

18. Try choosing a gel based or cream based scrub for a hassle-free scrubbing.

19. You can also apply the scrub to the rest of your body for exfoliation.

20. Always moisturize after using a scrub, if you are scrubbing your face then follow up with a glycolic acid based toner or a natural toner like rose water for the best results.
