Beauty DIY: Peppermint Oil for Hair Growth

Here are five ways in which you can use peppermint oil at your home to improve the health of your hair and scalp and make them grow longer and stronger naturally.

Peppermint Oil

You Will Need:

  • 1 Tablespoon of Peppermint Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of Water

How To:

  1. Add a couple of tablespoons of water in a tablespoon of peppermint oil to make it dilute in strength.
  2. Wash your hair with this solution for about 5-7 minutes. Pour it over your hair and gently rub it in your hairs and scalp.
  3. Leave the hair as it for about 15-20 minutes by tieing it up with a hairband.
  4. Rinse off the peppermint oil with a mild herbal shampoo and then follow up with a mild conditioner.
  5. Repeat this process two to three times a week to rejuvenate your scalp and make your hair grow faster.

Granted that peppermint oil increases hair growth and makes them longer and stronger, direct application of this oil is not recommended as it can be too strong for a lot of people. Diluting it with water makes it appropriate to use at home.

Peppermint Oil and Almond Oil

You Will Need:

  • 4-5 Drops of Peppermint Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of Almond Oil

How To:

  1. In a tablespoon of almond oil, add a few drops of peppermint oil and mix them together.
  2. Wash your hair thoroughly with some lukewarm water and then leave it to dry naturally for a few minutes.
  3. While your hairs are still damp, apply the almond and peppermint oil concoction and then massage your scalp carefully for about 10 minutes.
  4. Cover your head with a shower cap or a used towel and leave it covered for a night.
  5. Use lukewarm water followed by a mild shampoo to wash your hair in the morning and rinse off the oil absorbed by the scalp.
  6. Make bigger portions of this oil solution and use it three days in a week to get longer hair in just a month. Keep the mixture stored in a bottle at a dark and dry place.

Almond oil is a very common ingredient for a lot of hair care products. It is used in oils, shampoos, serums and hair masks. An oil as beneficial as this should be exploited more effectively and naturally.

Coconut Oil and Peppermint Oil

You Will Need:

  • 1 Teaspoon of Peppermint Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil

How To:

  1. Heat a tablespoon of coconut oil until it melts completely and turns into a liquid.
  2. Mix a teaspoon of peppermint oil with this melted coconut oil after it has cooled down to room temperature.
  3. Take a comb and part your hair to reveal the scalp clearly. Pour the mixture directly on your scalp and rub it with your fingers so that it seeps inside the hair follicles.
  4. Repeat the parting procedure until your entire scalp is covered with coconut and peppermint oil mixture.
  5. Tie your hair in a knot, but not too tightly, and leave it to rest for about an hour. The oil will penetrate the skin and boost hair growth.
  6. Wash the oil off with water, normal water will work as well, and then rinse with a mild shampoo.
  7. Use this remedy twice or thrice a week to get the best results. You can also add a lemon juice if your scalp is too dry.

This coconut oil and peppermint oil remedy are not only effective in making your hair grow longer in length, it increases the volume of hair as well making it more dense and beautiful than before.

Peppermint Oil and Aloe Vera Gel

You Will Need:

  • 2 Teaspoons of Peppermint Oil
  • 3 Tablespoons of Aloe Vera Gel

How To:

  1. The remedy works best with fresh aloe vera gel so pluck an aloe leaf and extract the gel from it.
  2. Add a couple of teaspoons of peppermint oil to the aloe vera gel and keep this mixture in a bowl.
  3. Since aloe vera gel is too dense and sticky than peppermint oil, it won’t mix properly just by stirring. Keep the mixture over a warm water bath for some time until the gel melts and mixes with the peppermint oil.
  4. Let the oil rest and come down to room temperature before applying on your hair.
  5. Part your hair in different sections just like in the previous procedure and then apply the mixture to your scalp. Massage it gently for a couple of minutes.
  6. Leave your hair for half an hour or so to allow the aloe vera gel to dry out completely and solidify on your hair. Cover it with a shower cap to avoid a mess.
  7. Wash your hair with lukewarm water and rub them gently to thoroughly remove the aloe vera gel remaining on your head.
    Repeat this whole process two to three times a week to hydrate your scalp and make your hair healthier than before.

Aloe vera is a miraculous plant that can be grown in any home very easily. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties along with the plethora of nutrients make it a very good ingredient for boosting hair growth naturally.

Shampoo and Peppermint Oil

You Will Need:

  • 1 Teaspoon of Peppermint Oil
  • Shampoo

How To:

  1. Your everyday fancy shampoo won’t work for this remedy. Try to find a more natural and herbal shampoo suitable for your hair type.
  2. While you are in the shower, pour a teaspoon of peppermint oil on your palm and add some shampoo to it, the regular amount you always use.
  3. Mix the shampoo and oil for a minute using your fingers and then apply it to your wet hair.
  4. Rub and massage the scalp until the hair starts foaming up and a rich lather is made. Keep applying the shampoo for a couple of minutes and try to avoid it from getting in your eyes.
  5. Wait for an additional couple minutes and then wash off the shampoo by taking a shower. Follow up with a mild conditioner if you have very long hair.
  6. Let your hair dry naturally as rubbing with a towel can also cause the hair to break. Repeat this process every time you wash your hair with shampoo.

It is one of the quickest remedies on the list as it starts and finishes in the shower itself but it is equally effective like the other remedies. Don’t mix the peppermint oil to your shampoo beforehand as oil and shampoo don’t stay mixed together that easily.
