Beauty DIY: Salt Face Mask for Large Pores

Salt is the most important ingredient for our food. Without any salt, the food tastes like nothing. It is the only thing that brings all the food items and spices together to make a delicious meal. There are different kinds of salt available in the market which are used for many different purposes. Sea salt, which is bigger than normal salt we find in our homes, is used as an exfoliating agent in many cultures. It is very beneficial for healing acne, clearing out the excess oil and dirt from the pores and reducing the overall size of the pores so that acne doesn’t return as well. Here are five remedies involving sea salt and common salt that are really helpful for your large pores.

Sea Salt

You Will Need:

  • 1/2 Cup of Sea Salt
  • 1/4 Cup of Water

How To:

  1. Pour a quarter cup of slightly warm water in double the amount of sea salt.
  2. Mix both the ingredients together until they make a coarse, thick paste. Sea salt is slightly bigger in size than regular salt and doesn’t dissolve completely if less water is used.
  3. Apply this paste on your face and neck region and spread it evenly using your fingers.
  4. Leave the paste for about half an hour or so to soak through the skin and dry out completely.
  5. Wash your face with lukewarm water and apply a mild face wash to remove any trace of the paste from your face.
  6. Repeat this remedy every day if you can or as much as possible to tighten your pores and decrease them in size.

Sea salt’s texture makes it a good natural cleansing agent. It helps in cleaning out the pores of trapped oil and dirt which leads to the increase in pore size. Using this remedy daily will surely shrink your pores and make them normal.

Sea Salt and Honey

You Will Need:

  • 4 Tablespoons of Sea Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons of Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon of Buttermilk

How To:

  1. Mix all the wet ingredients, i.e honey and buttermilk together first. Try to use organic raw honey instead of the one brought from the supermarket.
  2. In the wet mixture, add the sea salt and mix them together to make a paste with small lumps of sea salt still present.
  3. Massage your face with this paste for about 5-10 minutes and exfoliate the skin properly.
  4. Let the paste rest on your skin for some time until it dries out and solidifies on your skin. Don’t move too much as it will extend the drying period.
  5. Rinse off the paste properly using lukewarm water and then apply a mild moisturizer to seal the moisture inside your skin.
  6. Use this process two to three times a week to get rid of acne and expanded pores.

The anti-inflammatory properties of honey prevent any dirt or bacterial buildup on the skin which causes acne and pimples. Due to this, the pores on our skin stay relatively clean and maintain the size they were supposed to.

Lemon Juice and Sea Salt

You Will Need:

  • 1/2 Cup of Sea Salt
  • 2-3 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
  • Water

How To:

  1. Squeeze some fresh lemon juice and take out a couple of tablespoons from it.
  2. Add this lemon juice to half a cup of sea salt and mix the ingredients together for some time.
  3. Now, pour some water from above and keep stirring the mixture until it becomes a little runny but the sea salt has not dissolved completely.
  4. Gently spread this paste on your face and scrub it with your fingers. Move your fingers in a circular motion to get better exfoliation.
  5. Wash your face with normal tepid water and then apply a face cleanser to perfectly remove the paste from your face and the pores as well. Do this after the paste has dried for twenty minutes.
  6. You can make big portions of this remedy and use it on alternate days to get the best results.

  4. Leave the paste applied on your face about an hour before it starts drying up and breaking into thin pieces.
  5. Wash off the paste now using lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Follow up with a moisturizer as well.
