How to Brighten Skin with Toothpaste

One of the most commonly found products in the house toothpaste contains ingredients such as baking soda, alcohol, menthol, essential oils and hydrogen peroxide that can help prevent blemishes and dark spots on the skin. With most people looking for remedies in their medicine cabinets itself, toothpaste can come in handy for some short-term home remedies.

1. Toothpaste for Blackheads
A very common remedy using toothpaste is to get rid of blackheads. Add a capsule or tablespoon of charcoal powder or you can also use baking soda to a tablespoon of toothpaste. Add water if necessary. Wash your face with warm water to open up the pores. Then apply the mixture to the affected area (nose, chin) with a toothbrush and brush vigorously. Toothpaste has cooling properties which can dry out infected pores so using toothpaste to treat blackheads is useful.


2. Toothpaste for Burns
The most commonly used hack with toothpaste is to apply it on a mild or minor burn. A temporary remedy to treat burns it to apply a small amount of toothpaste on it but not before running the affected area under cold water. The cooling agents in toothpaste calm the burn before a more permanent remedy can be applied.

3. Toothpaste for Skin Whitening
Toothpaste is also used to get an even skin tone. The properties in toothpaste help with blemishes, pigmentation, dark spots as well as wrinkles. Just take a tablespoon of toothpaste and mix it with some lemon juice added according to your preference. Apply this mixture to the face as a regular face mask. Mix well one teaspoon of baking soda, half a tablespoon of toothpaste and half a tablespoon of toothpaste. Apply to the trouble areas and leave it on for about 20 minutes before washing off with warm water.

Toothpaste can help lighten the skin of your elbows and knees just like it can brighten your face. Take two tablespoons of multani mitti or fuller’s earth, two tablespoons of orange juice, and one tablespoon of toothpaste and mix it into a smooth paste. Leave the mixture on for 5-8 minutes and then wipe clean with a wet towel. The oil absorbing, antiseptic and cleansing properties of the fuller’s earth as well as the toothpaste will help brighten your skin.
Toothpaste for Nails
Every nail polish addict struggles with nail polish stained or yellow nails which risk the chance of becoming brittle. An easy remedy to get naturally bright nails it to apply a layer of toothpaste to your nails and leaving it on to dry for about 10 minutes before wiping it off. The calcium in the toothpaste helps make the nails stronger and the baking soda helps with the discoloration.

7. Toothpaste for Underarms
Another quick yet effective remedy using toothpaste is to lighten dark underarms. Cut a lemon in half and then apply a small amount of toothpaste on your underarm before rubbing it in with the lemon. Make sure that your underarms and clean and shaved or waxed but don’t apply this mixture to freshly shaved underarms.

8. Toothpaste for Lips
Toothpaste can help get rid of dark lips and help you get naturally pink lips. Again, the baking soda and bleaching properties in toothpaste help lighten the skin tone. Apply a thin layer of toothpaste on your lips and leave it on for three minutes before washing off. Simply dry brush your lips after that to help the blood flow in your lips and to get plumper lips.

Toothpaste can be used for several different purposes other than just for your teeth. It can also help with skin irritations or insect bites. It fights against dirt and prevents infections by killing bacteria, helping improve skin quality and hygiene as well.
