Cinnamon Hair Mask

Cinnamon has many uses from being sprinkled over tea and coffee to being used in cooking as a spice. This ingredient has a very distinct aroma which makes it even more valuable. Cinnamon has a wide variety of uses and benefits in the field of medicine as well. Regular consumption of cinnamon controls your blood pressure and your cholesterol. It is very useful in taking care of our hair as well. The antifungal and antimicrobial properties of cinnamon make it an ideal ingredient for a lot of hair related conditions like dandruff and hair fall. Here are some ways in which you can use cinnamon to get better, healthier, shinier and more hair.


Cinnamon for Dandruff

You Will Need:

  • 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon Powder
  • 3-4 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoon of Raw Honey

How To:

  1. Heat the olive oil for some time till it gets warm and then add a couple of tablespoons of raw honey in it.
  2. Stir the mixture a little before adding cinnamon powder into it. Mix the ingredients together thoroughly to make a smooth runny paste.
  3. Spread this paste on your hair and massage it into your scalp for 5-7 minutes. Use your hands to spread the paste on your whole hair.
  4. Leave the paste for 30-40 minutes to work on your hair. You can also cover your hair with a shower cap to avoid the paste dripping here and there.
  5. Wash your hair with a mild herbal shampoo to rinse off the cinnamon paste. Let the hair air dry.
  6. Repeat this process twice a week for getting rid of dandruff easily.

Cinnamon is very effective in treating dandruff. Its antimicrobial properties prevent any fungal development which causes dandruff. Cinnamon also stimulates the blood circulation in the scalp making the hair stronger. Olive oil is also a rich source of antioxidants which help in fighting dandruff and eliminating flakes.

Cinnamon for Shiny Hair

You Will Need:

  • 3 Tablespoons of Cinnamon Powder
  • 3 Tablespoons of Honey
  • 1 Teaspoon of Coconut Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon of Macadamia Oil

How To:

  1. Add 3 tablespoons of honey to the same amount of cinnamon powder and mix them together.
  2. Melt a teaspoon of coconut oil and pour it into the mixture while it’s still warm.
  3. Further, add a teaspoon of macadamia oil to the mixture. Mix all the ingredients together to make a smooth solution.
  4. Apply this solution to your dry hair and spread it everywhere using your hands. Massage the scalp for a couple of minutes as well.
  5. Let the mask rest for about 40-45 minutes before going to the next step. You can cover it with a shower cap or a towel.
  6. Use lukewarm water along with a mild shampoo to rinse your hair and wash off the dried solution.
  7. You can use this remedy two to three times a week to get shiny long hair.

This homemade DIY paste is full of protein which strengthens the hair follicle from within. There are mono-unsaturated fats present in the macadamia oil in high concentration which gives the hair a certain glow and protects it from outside damage.

Cinnamon for Long Hair

You Will Need:

  • 2 Tablespoons of Cinnamon Powder
  • 4-5 Eggs
  • 5 Tablespoons of Yogurt
  • 1/2 Avocado

How To:

  1. Crack some eggs and put them in a bowl.
  2. Cut an avocado in half and mash it into a smooth fine pulp. Add it to the bowl of eggs.
  3. Now, add a couple of tablespoons of cinnamon powder and some yogurt in the egg bowl and mix them together to make a smooth runny paste. Beat the mixture well so there are no lumps.
  4. Gently massage this paste on your pre-washed hair and scalp for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Leave the paste as it is for 30 minutes to an hour by covering it with a shower cap.
  6. Rinse off the hair with some herbal shampoo and normal water.
  7. Use this DIY paste thrice a week to improve the rate at which your hair is growing.

Avocado contains Vitamin B and E which are essential for proper and healthy growth of our hairs. The eggs also contribute to this growth as they provide healthy amino acids and proteins to strengthen the hair and make it longer.


Cinnamon for Moisturizing the Hair

You Will Need:

  • 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon Powder
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Cup of Kefir

How To:

  1. Crack an egg and separate the yolk from egg whites. Keep the yolk in a small bowl.
  2. Add a tablespoon of cinnamon powder and a cup of kefir to the egg yolk and mix them well to make a smooth thick paste.
  3. Use a comb to part to hair and uncover the scalp. Apply the paste on your scalp and massage it for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Cover your head with a shower cap and leave the paste for about half an hour.
  5. Rinse off the paste by using a mild herbal shampoo. Let your hair dry naturally.
  6. Repeat this remedy twice a week for rejuvenating your hair and moisturize it from within.

  4. Use a shower cap or a damp towel to cover the head for about 30-40 minutes so that the paste works on your hair strands.
