DIY Shampoo – The Best Remedy for hair growth

Our hair goes through a lot of pollution, sun damage and heat daily. Due to which our hair becomes rough, dull and dry. Also, it starts to fall and becomes weak. During such times our hair needs extra care and nourishment. We try to cure them with various expensive hair products which again contain harmful chemicals and ingredients, which not only damage our scalp by extracting out the natural oils but also make the hair roots weak.

One way to get rid of damaged hair and instead have long, beautiful and healthy hair is to make your own shampoo at home! That too without any harmful chemicals. Homemade shampoos not only help your hair to grow but also cause no toll on your pockets.


So following are the few ways to make your own shampoo at home:

Note:

  • Distilled water and Castile soap are used in the recipes below because they add soapy texture to the mixture and are an essential ingredients to prepare shampoo at home.
  • The shelf life of every shampoo mentioned below is 6 months.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR SHAMPOO

Ingredients:

  • Apple Cider vinegar: 2 tsp
  • Castile soap: 1 tbsp
  • Vitamin E oil: 2 capsules
  • Distilled water: ½ cup
  • Peppermint essential oil: 5- 6 drops

STEPS

  1. Add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to ½ cup of distilled water and mix them together.
  2. Now, add a tablespoon of castile soap to this mixture.
  3. Now, squeeze out 2 vitamin E oil capsules in it. Then, add 5-6 drops of peppermint oil to it.
  4. Mix all the ingredients together and transfer this mixture to a bottle for easy application.
  5. Wet your hair and massage your scalp with this shampoo and then rinse it off with normal water.
  6. Wash your hair with this shampoo 3 times a week for clean scalp and soft hair.

Apple cider vinegar is acidic in nature and hence balances the pH level of the scalp. Vitamin E oil nourishes the hair and makes them look shiny and soft. Peppermint oil has anti inflammatory properties and hence treats the scalp.

GREEN TEA SHAMPOO

Ingredients:

  • Freshly brewed green tea: 1 tbsp
  • Raw honey: 1 tbsp
  • Castile soap: 2 tbsp
  • Distilled water: ½ cup
  • Tea tree essential oil: 4-5 drops

STEPS

  1. Prepare a cup of green tea and add a tablespoon of it to a a tablespoon of raw honey.
  2. Then, add 2 tablespoons of castile soap to half a cup of distilled water.
  3. Mix both the mixtures together.
  4. Add 5 drops of tea tree essential oil to it.
  5. Now, transfer this mixture to a bottle and shake it once.
  6. Apply this shampoo to the wet hair and rinse off your hair with normal water.
  7. Apply this shampoo 2-3 times a week for best results.

Green tea has antioxidants which help in cleansing the hair scalp and stimulates hair growth. Raw honey helps in deep nourishment of the hair and treats dry hair. Tea tree oil adds a nice aura to the shampoo.

COCONUT MILK SHAMPOO

Ingredients:

  • Coconut milk: 1 ½ cups
  • Honey: 1 tbsp
  • Apple cider vingar: 1 tsp
  • Castor oil: ½ tsp

STEPS

  1. Add a tablespoon of honey to 1 ½ cups of coconut milk.
  2. Then, add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to it.
  3. Mix these ingredients together.
  4. Then, add half a teaspoon of castor oil to this.
  5. Transfer this mixture to a bottle for easy application.
  6. Apply this shampoo to your hair and scalp and rinse it off with normal water.
  7. Use this shampoo 2 times a week for shiny, nourished and soft hair.

Coconut milk makes your hair nourished and moisturised. Also, it adds extra shine to your hair. Honey nourished the scalp and treats frizzy hair. Apple cider vinegar cleanses the scalp properly. Castor oil provides required nutrients to your hair.

ALOE VERA SHAMPOO

Ingredients:

  • Aloe vera gel: 1/2 cup
  • Castile soap: 1/2 cup
  • Castor oil: 2 tsp

STEPS

  1. Add half a cup of aloe vera gel to half a cup of casile soap.
  2. Then, add 2 teaspoons of castor oil to it.
  3. Mix all the ingredients together properly.
  4. Transfer this mixture to a bottle for easy application.
  5. Apply this shampoo to your wet hair and massage your scalp with it.
  6. Then, rinse it off with normal water.
  7. Use this shampoo 2 times a week to get rid of dandruff and to get shiny and soft hair.

Aloe vera gel terats the scalp and removes dandruff from it. It makes your hair soft and nourished. Also, it adds shine to your hair. Castor oil nourishes the hair and stimulates hair growth.

BAKING SODA SHAMPOO

Ingredients:

  • Baking soda: 2 tsp
  • Castile soap: 1/3 cup
  • Distilled water: 1/3 cup
  • Tea tree essential oil: 2 tsp
  • Coconut oil: 1 tsp

STEPS

  1. Add 2 teaspoon sof baking soda to 1/3rd cup of castile soap.
  2. Then, add 1/3rd cup of distilled water to it and mix all the ingredients together.
  3. Then, add a teaspoon of coconut oil and 2 teaspoons of tea tree essential oil.
  4. Transfer this mixture to a bottle.
  5. Apply this shampoo to your scalp and wet hair.
  6. Then, rinse it off with normal water.
  7. Apply this shampoo 2-3 times a week for best results.
