How to get rid of stretch marks

Stretch marks are usually very stubborn and negatively impact on self-confidence. It’s mainly due to pregnancy or sudden weight gain which can be commonly seen on waist, thighs, lower backs, hips, breasts, arms, and buttocks.  Gaining more weight results in the skin overstretching which ultimately causes stretch marks. Here are a number of natural remedies that can help lighten and get rid of stretch marks.


1. Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera is an ideal home remedy for stretch marks. Pure aloe vera acts as a natural moisturizing and healing agent.

How to use:

  • Extract the sticky gel from inside by removing the outer layer of the aloe vera leaf.
  • Apply this aloe vera gel on stretch marks.
  • Wash it with water after 2-3 hours.

2. Shea butter

Shea butter is a blessing in disguise for stretch marks. It is rich in vitamin A and E. Its moisturizing nature nourishes the skin and helps in keeping the skin youthful. It also helps to reduce the redness of newly formed stretch marks, due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

How to use:

You can prepare a DIY stretch mark cream with the following steps:

  • Add ½ cup raw shea butter, ½ cup cocoa butter, ¼ cup of coconut oil and 2 tablespoon almond oil into a saucepan.
  • Melt all the ingredients until combined.
  • Pour into a jar and cool to room temperature.
  • Refrigerate for two hours..
  • Remove from the fridge and blend it in a blender until you get the consistency of a whipped cream.
  • Store it in a glass container in a cool place.
  • Apply to the stretch mark when needed.

3. Black tea

Black tea can be used to treat stretch marks. Vital vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin B12, which helps to control skin pigmentation, are present in black tea.

How to use: 

  • Boil two tablespoons of black tea.
  • Add some salt.
  • allow it cool.
  • Apply the mixture to the marks.

4.Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter works wonders for Stretch mark treatment. It is a lightweight fat, thus works well as a moisturizing agent. It easily melts at body temperature and gets absorbed deep into the dermis layer where the body is able to retain more moisture. This unique ability makes cocoa butter great for treating scars.

How to use:

You can simply apply cocoa butter to the stretch marks after shower every day.

5. Apricots

Apricots are very high in vitamin A and antioxidants. You can prepare a natural stretch mark cream using apricots.

How to use:

  • Deseed the apricots and grind them into a smooth paste.
  • Apply this cream directly on the stretch marks.
  • Let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.

6. Potato juice

Potatoes are usually used to lighten dark spots and blemishes from the skin because it contains starch and other skin lighting enzymes. If you use potato regularly, the visibility of stretch marks will get reduced gradually.

How to use:

  • Extract the juice by crushing the potato.
  • Apply it to the stretch marks regularly.
  • You can also use the potato slice alternatively.

7. Egg white

The egg is very rich in amino acids and proteins. Egg white is super effectively for skin related problems. Applying egg white to stretch marks will lighten the marks and also tightens the skin.

How to use:

  • Whip the egg whites.
  • Apply a thick paste on the stretch marks.
  • Let it dry completely, and rinse with cold water.

8.Sugar

Sugar scrub can be an effective remedy for stretch marks. Using sugar scrub on your skin results in exfoliation of it.

How to use:

  • Prepare a scrub by mixing 1 cup of sugar with 1/4 cup of coconut oil, to get the consistency of wet sand.
  • add some lemon juice.
  • It is advised to leave the mixture for 10 minutes.

You can use this scrub preparation to get rid of your stretch marks.

9.Coconut oil and olive oil

Coconut oil nourishes the skin thoroughly with the fatty acids that do not oxidize easily. Olive oil consists of vitamins and antioxidants. It is very healthy for the skin and helps to reduce stretch marks.

How to use:

  • Pour coconut and olive oil into a pan and heat for a few seconds.
  • Remove it from the heat allow it cool.
  • Apply on the stretch marks and massage gently.

By doing this regularly, the stretch marks will disappear.

10.Coffee grounds

Coffee contains caffeine which has high biological activity and can penetrate the skin easily. Caffeine has antioxidant properties and also has the ability to trigger the degradation of fats under the skin.

How to use:

  • Add water to the coffee grounds and prepare a paste.
  • Scrub this paste in circular motions for 5 minutes gently.
  • Adding olive oil can give extra benefits.
