Home remedies for dark spots on skin

Do you have brown dark spots on skin? I know no one likes them and want to get rid of them permanently. I am going to share some home remedies here that can help you if you do not want to spend any money on expensive products.


Green tea

Green tea is a very effective remedy to fade those dark spots.

  • This type of extract is naturally rich in antioxidants which protects the body from free radicals as well as promotes more collagen growth.
  • The extract is easy to use as well.
  • Simply eat the extracts and watch the spots fade.

Apple cider vinegar and onion

Another effective home remedy needs apple cider vinegar and onion.

  1. Blend one onion in a blender and then place the contents in a cheesecloth.
  2. Mix the blended onion with a cup of apple cider vinegar and, using a cotton ball, dab onto the brown spots.
  3. Leave the mixture on the brown spot for about 30 minutes.
  4. Continuing doing this daily for about six weeks to see improvements.
  5. Also, you don’t have to keep making the mix.
  6. Just toss it in the fridge until you need it the next day.
  7. Don’t forget to label it though.
  8. You don’t want the kids eating it on accident.

Tea tree oil

One of the best ways to fade those brown spots is with tea tree oil.

  1. All you need to do is mix fifteen drops of 100% pure tea tree oil into one ounce of aloe vera.
  2. Now apply about half a teaspoon to the dark spots and leave it on for 15 minutes.
  3. Be cautious if the dark spots are near your eyes. This is not something you want to accidentally get into your eyes.

Sandalwood paste

This is an ayurvedic solution to most of your skin woes.

  1. Take a mixing bowl.
  2. Add 2 teaspoons of sandalwood powder, a teaspoon of lemon juice, a teaspoon of glycerin and enough rose water to make a smooth, lump-free face pack.
  3. Make sure that your face is clean before applying this face pack.
  4. Take a generous amount of this face pack and apply it all over your face and neck.
  5. Wait for this face pack to dry out.
  6. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.
  7. Follow up with your toner and moisturizer.
  8. Try out this face pack twice or thrice a week to get the best results.

Turmeric face pack

This is one of the most used herbal face pack traditionally used in India.

  1. Keep 1/2 a cup of chickpea flour, 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder, sandalwood powder, sweet almond oil handy.
  2. Add all these ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix everything into a smooth paste.
  4. Cleanse your face with your regular face wash.
  5. Pat it dry with a clean towel.
  6. Apply an even layer of this face pack all over your face and neck.
  7. Keep it on for about 10 minutes at a stretch.
  8. Then scrub it off by massaging it in circular motions while applying some pressure.
  9. Rinse it off with running tap water if required.
  10. Follow up with a toner and a moisturizer to complete this skincare regime.

Almond face pack

Use this face pack to fade away dark spots from your face.

  1. Soak the almond overnight in water.
  2. Peel them off.
  3. Cut the almonds into small pieces.
  4. Run it through a blender to make a smooth paste.
  5. Transfer the contents in a mixing bowl.
  6. Add a tad bit of honey and sandalwood powder in the almond paste to make a face pack.
  7. Wipe your face with micellar water.
  8. Apply this face pack evenly all over the affected areas with a face pack applicator.
  9. Let it sit for a while and work wonders for your skin.
  10. Rinse it off with running tap water.
  11. Pat dry your face with a clean towel.
  12. Follow up with a toner and a moisturizer to complete this skincare regime.
  13. Use this face pack twice or thrice a week to get the best results.

Tomato face pack

This is one of the most common face packs that can be used by people of any age.

  1. Take a medium-sized tomato.
  2. Extract the pulp.
  3. Mash it into a smooth paste.
  4. Add a few drops of lemon juice in tomato pulp.
  5. Mix it well and your face mask is ready.
  6. Apply this face pack all over your face and neck and keep it on for about 15 minutes.
  7. Wash it off with running tap water.
  8. Follow up by applying a thick layer of honey after washing this face pack.
  9. Honey is a natural humectant and it moisturizes the skin intensely.
  10. Keep it on for some time, rinse it off with running tap water and then follow up with your regular toner and a hydrating face gel to complete this skincare regime.

Lemon face pack

This face pack is specifically formulated for sensitive skin and it will dry out active acne and remove dark spots from your face with regular use.

  1. Take 2 tablespoons of curd, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, a few drops of steam distilled rose water and 2 drops of sandalwood oil in a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix everything well to make a smooth, lump-free face pack.
  3. Wash your face with a regular face wash.
  4. Pat dry your face with a clean towel.
  5. Apply a thick layer of this pack evenly all over your face.
  6. Let it stay for not more than 15 minutes at a stretch.
  7. Then, wash it off with plain water.
  8. Wipe your face.
  9. Follow up with a regular toner and a moisturizer afterwards.

Potato face pack

It is easily available and it will take care of your post-acne scars without breaking out your sensitive skin.

  1. To prepare this face pack, all you have to do is, pour in 1 teaspoon of honey, a quarter teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of potato juice in a clean container.
  2. Mix everything well to make your customized spot treatment face pack.
  3. Take a face pack applicator and apply this face pack all over your face and neck evenly.
  4. Wait until this face pack dries out completely.
  5. Then, wash it off with plain water.
  6. Follow up with your moisturizer to get the best results.
