Home remedies to treat comedonal acne

By Glowpink Staff

Comedonal acne includes whiteheads and blackheads. This acne forms because a component of skin oil called sebum, along with old skin cells, block the pores of the skin. Comedonal acne appears most often on the forehead, nose, and chin. This problem is very common among teenagers.

Below there are some natural remedies to treat comedonal acne:

  • Wash your face twice with a mild cleanser
  • I know some people who frequently wash their face. Believe me, it doesn’t work
  • Use cream that contains benzoyl peroxide
  • Use an ointment or cream that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide for best results. Wait about 15 minutes after washing or showering to apply the medication because wet skin is more absorbent and can be more easily irritated.
  • Use sunscreen and cosmetics that are oil-free. Hair gel and other hair products also should be oil-free to avoid clogged pores. Look for products that are labeled as noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic to make sure they are designed for acne-prone skin.
  • Consult with a dermatologist if your acne doesn’t respond to over-the-counter treatments. According to the Mayo Clinic, a number of prescribed medications are available to reduce comedones and their unsightly appearance. Products that prevent clogged pores include those made with vitamin A derivatives such as tretinoin and tazarotene.
  • Wear hairstyles that keep your hair off your face, especially if you have oily hair. Wear hats and scarves that sit loosely on your head to prevent clogged pores.
  • Eat healthy food and avoid processed and packaged and oily food.
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated. Sometimes, when your skin is dehydrated, your body secretes oil to make it up for it, and that in turn, clogges the open pores leading pimples and acne on your face.
  • Use micellar water to remove make-up from your face and do not use any oil-based product.
  • Never ever pop a pimple or a zit, if you do so it may leave behind an ugly scar on your face.
  • Drink more fruit juice throughout the day so that your body is never deprived of adequate nourishment throughout the day.
  • Always use a scarf before stepping out of the premises of your house to minimize the exposure of your skin to sun and dust.
  • Remember that you must apply a top of sunscreen powder on top of the sunscreen lotion for an added layer of protection.
  • While applying make-up, apply a thin layer of a face primer, so that it does not clog your open pores.
