Sea Salt for Hair

Did you know that sea salt can be used for enhancing hair health? It offers several benefits and you can combine it with different ingredients to use for your hair. It has the following advantages:

Sea Salt and Coffee

You will need:

  • 3 tablespoons of sea salt
  • 3 tablespoons of coffee grounds
  • 2 tablespoons of yoghurt

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together to get a scrub.
  2. Wet your hair.
  3. Apply the scrub on your scalp and massage well for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Rinse off the hair with normal water first.
  5. Then shampoo and condition your hair as normal.
  6. If you want to use this DIY as a cleanser, then omit the yoghurt and cleanse your scalp. In that case, you need not use a shampoo.
  7. Do this remedy two times a week.

Sea Salt and Coconut Oil

You will need:

  • 4 tablespoons of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  • 2 mashed bananas
  • 1 egg

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Massage the scalp for a few minutes.
  3. Rinse off using normal water.
  4. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual.
  5. Repeat this remedy once a week.

Sea Salt and Baking Soda

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup of baby shampoo
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons of sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon of tea tree essential oil or rosemary essential oil

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. Wet your hair.
  3. Massage your hair and scalp using this mixture for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse the hair using plain water first.
  5. Condition your hair as usual.
  6. Use this remedy 2 times a week.

Shampooing your hair for too often will actually strip them of their natural moisture. It removes all the natural oils that our scalp produces. This may make our hair weak and prone to breakage. You will need:

  • ½ cup of fuller’s earth
  • ½ tablespoon of charcoal powder
  • 2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses
  • 6 tablespoons of sea salt
  • 1/4th cup of olive oil

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients to form a paste.
  2. Wet your hair a little bit.
  3. Apply the paste on the scalp and massage your hair for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Then leave it on for another 10 minutes.
  5. Rinse off your hair with plain water.
  6. Use a shampoo to remove the hair mask completely.
  7. Condition your hair.
  8. Do this remedy once a month.

Sea salt will help in adding volume to the hair. Fuller’s earth is clay which helps in detoxifying the scalp. You will need:

  • 1/4t cup of lemon juice
  • ½ cup of aloe vera gel
  • ½ cup of sea salt

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients to get a mixture.
  2. Wet your hair.
  3. Apply the mixture on your scalp.
  4. Massage your hair for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Rinse off your hair with normal water.
  6. Shampoo and Condition your hair as usual.
  7. Use this remedy once a week.
