Use corn mask for deep cleansing and sun tan

Corn is rich in folic acid, vitamin C and vitamin A, because of this it has many health benefits for skin and hair but only a few of us know about the beauty benefits of corn. Vitamin C housed in cornflour stimulates collagen production and helps to tighten the skin. It also fastens the healing process, treats sunburn and fades scars. Free radicals that are responsible for unhealthy skin gets killed by antioxidant property of vitamin C. Also known as ascorbic acid, vitamin C can neutralize free radicals and replace them. Vitamin A in cornflour postpones aging wrinkles and gives the skin firmness. Phytic acid in cornflour has antioxidant property, which thwarts free radicals. Assorted nutrients in corn starch absorb excess sebum/oil secreted by the body and treats suntan.


Below I have given recipes for a face mask that are prepared using cornflour.

1. Corn Flour and Curd Face Mask for Sun Tan

Curd is packed with an innate property that helps to remove suntan. Packed with anti-fungal properties, the curd is a wonder remedy when you blend it with cornflour and honey.

You will need:

  • Corn flour – 1/2 tbsp
  • Curd – 1 tbsp

How to prepare the mask:

  1. Blend two ingredients in a bowl and mix it thoroughly, optionally you can mix 1/2 tbsp of raw honey.
  2. Prepare your face by washing it with warm water.
  3. Evenly apply the mask all over the face and leave it for about 15 minutes.
  4. Rinse it off with water and pat dry.
  5. Follow applying a natural moisturizer like shea butter or jojoba oil.

2. Corn flour, Honey and Yogurt for Dry Skin

Dry skin leaves shiny scales; a gentle scrub is needed to shed dead cells and to restore the shine. As most chemical scrubs make your skin dry, natural homemade scrub which leaves the skin hydrated comes in handy.

You will need:

  • Corn flour – 1 tbsp
  • Raw Honey – 1 tbsp
  • Greek Yogurt – 1 tbsp

How to prepare the mask:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl till it turns into a smooth paste.
  2. Then wash your face to remove impurities and now apply the cornflour scrub over the face.
  3. Gently massage in a circular motion.
  4. Rinse it off after 10 minutes.
  5. Topical application of jojoba oil is recommended, as a moisturizer, afterwards to complete this skincare regime.

3. Corn flour and Vinegar for Black Heads

Exceptional benefits of vinegar for skin are mentioned here. Topically apply it will heal sunburns, treats itchy skin and removes blackheads.

You will need:

  • Corn flour – 1 tbsp
  • Vinegar – 1 tbsp

Get organic vinegar from a local store and mix it with cornflour. Apply the paste on the prewashed face. Leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse it off.

Alternatively, you can also mix:

  • Egg white
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Milk
  • Mashed strawberries
  • Orange essential oil

How to prepare the mask:

  1. Application for all these recipes is identical to one the mentioned above.
  2. You can try your favorite ingredient or else simply mix it with warm water.

4. Cornflour and baking soda face pack for clear skin

You will need:

  • Corn flour: 1 tablespoon
  • Manuka honey: 1 teaspoon
  • Wild turmeric: 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda: 1 teaspoon

How to prepare the mask:

  1. Take all the ingredients in the specified quantities in a mixing bowl.
  2. Give it a good stir to make sure that all the ingredients get mixed-up well.

  1. Take a mixing bowl.
  2. Add all the ingredients in it.
  3. Mix it well until you achieve a smooth, lump-free paste.
  4. Wipe your face with micellar water to make sure that your face is squeaky clean before applying this face pack.
  5. Apply this face pack evenly all over your face and neck with a face pack applicator or your fingertips.
  6. Keep it on for about 20 minutes at a stretch.
  7. Then, wash it off with cool water.
  8. Follow up with a moisturizer of your choice.
  9. You can use this face pack twice a week to look at least 5 years younger than your age.

6. Corn flour, lemon juice face pack to fade away dark spots and pigmentation from the skin

You will need:

  • Cornflour: 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons
  • Wild turmeric powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Steam distilled rosewater: a few drops
  • Baking soda: 1 teaspoon

How to prepare the mask:

  1. Add all the dry ingredients in a clean container at first, then add enough rosewater and lemon juice to make a face pack.
  2. Mix everything well, make sure that you break the lumps if any.

  4. Then spread this pack evenly all over your face with your fingertips.
  5. Let it dry up completely on its own, or wait for at least 20 minutes before washing it off.

  9. Use this face pack twice a week and you are good to go.

7. Cornflour-papaya face pack for crystal clear skin

You will need:

  • Ripe papaya: 1 small slice
  • Ripe banana: half a banana
  • Cornflour: 2 heaped tablespoons

How to prepare the mask:

  1. Mash the papaya and banana with the help of a fork.
  2. Add cornflour in it and then mix it well.
  3. Wash your face with your regular face wash.
  4. Pat dry your face with a clean towel.
  5. Apply this face pack on your face.
  6. Let it sit for 20 minutes.
  7. Rinse it off with cool water.
  8. Follow up with a toner and a moisturizer afterwards to get the best results.
  9. Use this face pack once in a week to get clear skin.
