Weight Loss Dinner That Can Be Prepared At Home Easily

You must have heard that one should have breakfast like a king and dinner like a beggar! This is said because almost after 10 hours of fast at night while we sleep, our body demands for a healthy and heavy breakfast in the morning to keep up with the whole day. But at night, we should eat something light and healthy because most of us go to bed right after having our dinner, due to which our food does not get digested properly. Thus, it is suggested to have a light and healthy dinner rather than a heavy and oily one. A healthy dinner is easy to digest and also helps you to have a nice sleep. It makes you wake up fresh in the morning. Also, it keeps you away from many stomach related problems like acidity, obesity etc. People with the problem of obesity are mostly those who eat heavy and oily dinner instead of healthy one!


Now most of you can think, that healthy dinner takes a lot of effort and time to get prepared but it is not so! Yes, read further to know how to prepare healthy dinner at home easily:

VEGETABLE SOUP

Ingredients:

  • Chopped onion- 2 tbsp
  • Minced garlic- 2 tsp
  • Chopped carrots- 1/3 cup
  • Chopped Green cabbage- 1/3 cup
  • Sweet corns- ½ cup
  • Chopped French beans- 1/3 cup
  • Black pepper- ¼
  • Vinegar- ½ tbsp.
  • Cornstarch- 2 tbsp
  • Olive Oil- ½ tbsp.
  • Water- 2 ½ cups
  • Salt- as per the taste

STEPS

  1. Chop all the vegetables mentioned above in small pieces, so that they can easily be chewed with soup.
  2. Now, add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to a bowl.
  3. Add 3 tablespoons of water to this cornstarch and mix them properly.
  4. Now, in a saucepan add ½ tablespoon of olive oil. Put it on stove on medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic to it. Saute this for about 3 minutes.
  5. Now, add chopped carrot, cabbage, French beans and sweet corn to it. Add the salt too.
  6. Stir this mixture for 5 minutes while it cooks.
  7. Now, add 2 ½ cups of water to it and give it a nice stir and let it boil. Once it starts to boil, add more salt to it.
  8. Add black pepper as well. Add cornstarch and keep stirring the mixture to make sure no lumps are formed.
  9. Keep stirring it for about 8 minutes while it cooks until it turns thick. Now, add vinegar and mix well.
  10. Now, turn off the stove and let it cool down. Taste the soup to add something if required.

This mixed vegetable soup is enriched with all the essential nutrients and vitamins our body requires. It contains all the healthy vegetables like French beans, sweet corns, carrots and cabbage. This soup would be a lighter and better option for dinner because it would not take much time to digest.

MOONG DAL

Ingredients:

  • Moong dal- ½ cup
  • Water- 1 ½ cups
  • Olive oil- 2 tsp
  • Jeera- ½ tsp
  • Mustard- ½ tsp
  • Red chili powder- ¼ tsp
  • Green chopped chilies- 1
  • Grated Garlic- 2 cloves
  • Small chopped onion- 1
  • Tomato- 1 or 2 (as per the requirement)
  • Hing- a pinch
  • Salt- as per the requirement
  • Turmeric powder- 2 pinches
  • Fenugreek leaves (crushed)- ½ tsp
  • Dry mango powder- ½ tsp

STEPS

  1. Wash ½ cup of dal properly in water. Keep changing the water and wash it until the water turns clear.
  2. Cook it in the pressure cooker with 1 ½ cups of water until it is soft. It will be properly cooked after 2 whistles on a medium flame.
  3. In a saucepan, add olive oil. Sauté mustard and cumin seeds.
  4. Once the mustard starts to splutter, add grated garlic and chopped green chilies.
  5. After 2 minutes, add a pinch of hing and chopped onions to it.
  6. After another 2 minutes, add chopped tomatoes and fry them until they turn soft.
  7. Add 2 pinches of turmeric and salt to taste. Add red chili powder as well.
  8. Now, add cooked dal to this mixture of ingredients. Mix them all well.
  9. Then, add crushed leaves of kasturi methi and dry mango powder to it.
  10. After 5 minutes, turn off the flame. You dal is cooked and ready to be served.

This dal not only tastes delicious but it is also very healthy for the body. It contains required vitamins that make our body fit and active. Also, it is very light and is easy to digest for dinner. You can eat this dal as it is or you can eat a chappati with it.


VEGETABLE KHICHDI

Ingredients:

  • Rice- 1 cup
  • Lentils- ½ cup
  • Water- 4 cups
  • Chopped Onions- 2
  • Green chilies- 2
  • Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • Potatoes- 2 (chopped)
  • Green peas- ½ cup
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • Chili powder- 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder- ½ tsp
  • Olive oil- 2 tsp
  • Mustard seed- 2 tsp
  • Cumin seed- 1 tsp
  • Whole black pepper- ½ tsp
  • Hing- a pinch
  • Salt- as per the taste

STEPS

  1. Wash the rice and dal both in water until the water turns out to be clear.
  2. Then, place both rice and dal together in a bowl with water and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  3. Then, strain the dal and rice from the water.
  4. In a pressure cooker add olive oil and put it on medium heat.
  5. Now, add cumin and mustard seeds to the oil and wait till they start to sizzle.
  6. Then, add whle black pepper and curry leaves and hing to it. Saute it for a minute.
  7. Then, add finely chopped onions and ginger- garlic pasteto the pressure cooker. And sauté them too.
  8. Now, add finely chopped potatoes and peas to it and give it a nice stir.
  9. Add 2 pinches of turmeric powder and chili powder to this. Mix them all together.
  10. Now, add the strained rice and dal to this mixture and mix all the ingredients well.
  11. Now, add water to it and wait till it boils. Once the khichdi is boiled, add salt to taste.
  12. Turn off the heat and pour it in a bowl. Your khichdi is prepared and ready to be served.
