Yoghurt, being a simple kitchen ingredient, can be used in several ways to benefit the skin. It has several benefits for the body. You can consume yoghurt for improving the digestive system. Other than that, you can mix yoghurt with other ingredients and do a facial at home to revitalize the skin and get a natural glow.

A simple yoghurt facial done at home will have 3 main steps:

  • Exfoliating
  • Massaging
  • Face masking

You can use this routine once every week.


Scrubs:

Yoghurt and Gram Flour Scrub

You will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon of gram flour
  • A pinch of turmeric

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together to get a smooth paste.
  2. Apply this paste on your face and allow it to dry up completely.
  3. Rinse off with plain water.

How this works:

Gram flour can be used as facial mask as well as a facial scrub. It not only helps to shrink large skin pores but also helps to remove the blackheads and white heads present on the oily areas of the face. When turmeric powder is added to the gram flour, it helps to get rid of acne as well. The combination of gram flour and yoghurt will help in brightening the skin and making it look healthy and beautiful. Yoghurt will also help to eliminate any dryness.

Face Massage:

Yoghurt and Lavender Oil Face Massage

You will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of lavender oil

How to:

  1. Mix the yoghurt with the lavender oil.
  2. After exfoliating the skin, apply this yoghurt and oil mixture on your face and massage the face and neck area.
  3. Massage the skin for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse off with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.

How this works:

Yoghurt has cleansing and hydrating properties. The fats and oils present in yoghurt help to improve the texture of the skin and deep clean it without making it dry. Lavender oil is used for sensitive skin since it has healing properties. It helps to get rid of any inflammation caused by acne or tiredness. Lavender oil will also help in reducing the appearance of fine wrinkles. This oil will not clog the pores.

Yoghurt and Wheat Flour Massage

You will need:

  • 1 teaspoon of yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of milk

How to:

  1. Mix all the ingredients together to form a smooth paste.
  2. Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture.
  3. Apply the mixture on the face and massage the skin for 10minutes.
  4. Rinse off using plain water and a mild cleanser.

How this works:
not many are aware that wheat flour can also be used to cleanse the skin. Wheat flour does an excellent job at absorbing all the dirt from the skin and brightening it. It helps to get rid of pigmentation and any sun tanning as well. Lemon juice also has a lightening effect on the skin as it helps to act like an astringent for the skin. Milk helps to nourish the skin and yoghurt prevents the drying out of skin.

Yoghurt and Orange Peel Powder Face Mask

You will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon of orange peel powder

How to:

  1. Mix the yoghurt with the orange peel powder.
  2. Apply this paste on your face and allow it to dry up completely.
  3. Now rinse it off with plain water.

How this works:

Yoghurt can help greatly with pigmentation. It helps in lightening the skin and fading always scars or any darkness due to pigmentation. Thus it also helps in removing sun tan and is much milder on the skin than any other skin lightening treatments. Orange peel powder is full of anti oxidants as well as vitamin c. this makes it very effective for treating skin problems. It helps to brighten the skin and get rid of pigmentation while absorbing all the surface dirt and keeping the pores clean.

Yoghurt and Berry Face Mask

You will need:

  • 2 mashed strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon of beetroot juice
  • 1 tablespoon of thick yoghurt

How to:

  1. Add the mashed strawberries to the yoghurt.
  2. Add in the beetroot juice and mix well so that there are no thick chunks of fruit present in the yoghurt.
  3. Apply this paste on your face.
  4. Allow it to dry up completely.
  5. Rinse off using lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.

How this helps:

Yoghurt contains very healthy fats for the skin which make it plump. Ingredients like berries and beetroot juice will add a natural glow to your skin as these contain high amounts of anti oxidants and have a purifying action on the skin.
