Acne types:

There are various types of acne namely cysts[1], nodules, pustules, papules, blackheads, and whiteheads. Blackheads and whiteheads are very easy to cure when compared with the other acne types. These occur mostly on the facial skin like chin, nose, and cheeks. Pustules and papules lead to the breakage of clogged pore’s walls which would result in inflammation. They make the skin lose its normal texture and make it rough.

Cysts and nodules are the ones which cause some of the worst kind of infections on the skin. When they occur, it causes a lot of pain in that area. This type of acne will be containing white-yellow pus inside it which could cause some infections when they come out due to breakage. You should never touch these kinds of acne[2] in order to prevent your skin from any infections.

Hormones also play a vital role in acne occurrence. Androgens[3] are hormones that get increased in most of the teenaged boys and girls during their puberty. These hormones cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. Pregnancy can also lead to a change in hormones and result in acne. It also can affect sebum production. This can make low amounts of androgens to circulate in the blood of women and can worsen acne.

Some of the natural ingredients like turmeric powder, honey, and lime juice have antibacterial and antiseptic qualities. These ingredients can help you in preventing your skin from acne and its effects. You can also prepare some face mask for preventing and curing acne on your skin. This article will give you an insight into the best homemade face mask recipes for acne.  All of these recipes include only natural ingredients. 19. Hey candace, You can use the remedies a couple times a week. but I think the frequency of usage should depend on the individual remedy. I personally use the milk and honey peel off mask a lot. and sometimes I would use it 3 or even 4 times in a week. I have yet to face any issues and my skin is clear from pimples and feels very soft too. I think you can try the milk and honey peel off mask. Hard to go wrong with that one. Such a classic. xoxo

  25. Turmeric is amazing for the skin. It is one of the best ingredient to make the skin better for my money. I actually use it a lot I am obsessed with it since I discovered it a few years ago. It is really good for acne too as it is antiseptic and antibacterial and anti-inflammatory too. It really eradicated my acne and makes my skin soooo smooth to the touch. I love it so much. I always recommend this amazing spice to anyone. And you can also use it for tons of others things too. Natural holistic living for the win. i wish you all the best in your journey of naturally living your life in balance.

  28. I was looking for a post like this. It really came at a perfect time for me. Feels like it was written just for me. Looks like someone up there is looking out for me 😀

  29. You may feel that way but all of us suffer from acne at some point. I am not being discouraging or cheeky to you, just want you to know you are not alone and you will get through it. You will have beautiful skin just keep on working, moving forward, and learning.

  30. Terrific job on this post. Sooo much useful and new and amazing knowledge in this post. I absolutely adore this. Great job once again and I hope you guys go far…

  31. Yes, clay masks are really good for your skin and acne. It will be really good if you have oily and acne-prone skin. Clay can absorb the excess oils from your skin very effectively and also helps exfoliate your skin well. You will get a fantastic and smooth matte finish which you are gonna love. It is amazing for unclogging the pores which is ultimately fantastic for skin’s health and also prevents acne. I would definitely suggest the use of clay masks.

  32. That would definitely depend on the type of the mask. But generally speaking yes, you can use face masks everyday as long as you use masks which are nourishing and hydrating to your skin without being harsh or damaging when used for longer time periods. Good luck on your quest.

  33. Yes, you should apply mask onto a clean face but generally you can achieve that just with lukewarm water.

  34. Applying a moisturizer afterwards is generally a good idea. But again, it all depend on various variables like the type of mask and ingredients in it.

  35. Hey, terrific post on acne removal. I just have one question that will these masks be good for sensitive skin or not. I ask because my skin is sensitive and my sister’s skin is even more sensitive and she is really fed up with acne. Her skin breaks out a lot. I want to help her out in any way I can. This post seems great as it has so many home remedies options. Please reply quickly. thanks a lot again for this.

  36. Hi Aretha, many of these masks are good for sensitive skin but i would suggest that you tell your sister that she do a patch test first. to do that just apply the mask on a small and discreet part of skin to test out any reactions to your skin. I usually test out products on areas like arm or thigh.

  37. what kind of honey should I be using for the face masks?? I want to use pure organic honey. is that fine??

  38. Yes, you can also use manuka honey in place of normal honey. you can incorporate beneficial natural ingredients to your masks as you wish.

  39. Omg cool post. but i do not know which one to use there are so many 😀 really thanks for this. I am going to try all of these 😀

  40. Hey, I have an idea for anti-acne face mask, tell me what do you guys think of it: fresh ginger, lemon juice, green tea, and oatmeal. I know ginger is good for acne and acne scaring but I also wanted to include ingredients which help with inflammation, redness or irritation of the skin. Is this mask good or do you guys think adding baking soda as well would make it better? Thanks in advance for any input.

  41. Hey Tiffany, that looks like a great and effective mask. It is certainly interesting. Please try it and share your experiences with us. baking soda is great as acne remedy but it could cause issues with sensitive skin. so running a small patch test is must.

  42. Yes, mint tea should be totally fine as it is also anti-inflammatory and antibacterial and also has tons of antioxidants. that is why it is great for fighting acne.

  43. Great article with tons of home remedies for treating acne. I have a few suggestions I would like to add to help the women here. Always check the mask for allergies to your skin by doing a small patch test on your skin first. Eat a healthy and well balanced diet to curb acne from inside. Different skins respond to different ingredients. I have used honey based masks before and they are very effective on my acne. But that does not mean at all that it will definitely work for you too. Try a bunch of different remedies out.

  44. All of the remedies here use natural ingredients you there is not much risk of allergies or side effects so try away! hope I was of some help.

  45. Yes, you make some great points. Following these will definitely help you have a better experience in treating your acne and scars. Good luck to all.

  46. I tried the egg white and lemon mask for acne scars and got great results. My skin felt really soft and had a radiant glow afterwards. The ingredients are extremely simple and I already had them in my kitchen as most women will have in their homes. I loved it and will surely use it many more times! Thanks a lot.

  47. How frequently are you planning on using it every week?? Also thank you for getting back with your experience, we really appreciate the first hand reviews.

  48. You are welcome, glad to be of service to the masses 🙂 To answer your question, I think I will use it a couple times in a week.

  49. I tried the cinnamon and honey mask for soothing my acne scars. It worked quite well and soothed my acne bumps and redness and I hope it had some effects on scar as well but it is hard to tell yet. I will keep on using it and share my results again. Thanks for this.

  50. I would not recommend that as cinnamon could prove to be quite strong and does not go well with all skin types although it seems like it worked fine on yours. Still I would not leave it on overnight, just to be on the safer side. There are other overnight masks specifically given which you can use without any issues. Hope this helped. Good luck with your acne and acne scars, I hope you vanquish them 🙂
