  1. How will I find whether my body contains the required amount of iodine level in it? Can we find it by taking any blood test or some other test? If there are any, please specify it over here with a clear explanation on it. Thank you much in advance for clearing my doubt.

  2. What will happen if I consume more amount of iodine rich foods every day? Will the increased level of iodine level in our body cause any side effects in our body? If yes, explain about the effects of increased iodine level in our body. Also, mention if there are any chances for major health issues to occur in our body.

  3. I just knew that iodine is one of the element required in our body. But I didn’t knew that it holds such a vital role in maintaining our health. Thanks bunch to the writer and the team for letting us know about one of the most common element which many of us are unaware on its importance. I would really start including iodine rich foods in my regimen from on now.

  4. Hello ROSALIA HELLER! Yeah there are tests that can be taken to identify the iodine level in your body. The most simplest way to identify the levels are through blood test and urine test. You can surely detect the level with the help of traces of iodine present in your blood and urine. You can’t test it by yourself. You should obviously suggest your doctor for this. This can also be done at hospitals or in any blood test centers. If you are healthy enough, then your body should contain iodine level of about 15 to 20 mg.

  5. Hi OCEANA STEPHENS! No matter what food or ingredient it is, always you have to consume only sufficient levels of them. When you consume a lot of iodine rich foods daily then it will lead to increased iodine level in your body. This can lead to thyroid papillary cancer and thyroiditis . This can also lead to death or some other serious health problems which might put you in great danger. Too much of iodine can cause iodine poisoning in your body. This might lead to the burning sensation in your stomach, throat and mouth. So do not consume iodine in large quantities regularly.

  6. This is really an incredible article. The fact that there are so many food items especially for increasing the iodine level in your body really impresses me a lot. I have had most of the food items mentioned in this article. But never knew that it contains so much of iodine level in it. Thanks for letting me know about this. I really respect you for the time you have spent in collecting all those information together and the effort you have put it in delivering such a fabulous piece of content. This is really amazing guys. Keep up the good work. Waiting to see a lot more such works in the forth coming days. Please keep sharing such useful contents. I will surely share it with all my friends and family people to follow this page.

  7. I am really a lazy woman and I really don’t like spending more time in cooking. And that too salads are my first enemy and I hate eating them. I’ve heard of iodine tablets and I have also seen some of my friends consuming it regularly. Can I consume the iodine tablets regularly to maintain the required iodine level in my body? Will it cause any side effects?

  8. 9. Hi SANDRINE THOMSON! Firstly you have to make sure that you have proper levels of iodine content in your body. When you have sufficient levels you don’t have to worry about that anymore. You can continue following your regular food habits. But for this you should approach a doctor when you have any of the above mentioned symptoms that are specified in this article. Then if the iodine levels in your body are less, then the doctor will itself prescribe you the iodine tablets if it is required for some days. Then you can consume them regularly for the given number of days by the doctor. But do not take these tablets by yourself without checking it properly or getting advice from doctors. If you consume this undauntedly, then it might lead to increased iodine levels in your body. So make sure that you don’t take such medications randomly as your friend also intakes it. It is highly dangerous.

  9. Will iodine deficiency cause hair loss? How is iodine related to hair? Can anyone please explain me this if you are aware of it?

  10. In this article you have mentioned that Jerusalem Artichokes contains high iodine content in it. But then, this is the first time I am hearing the name of such an ingredient. Can you explain me how it can be consumed? Should be consume it in a raw format or in a cooked state. If cooked state, then please mention how it can be cooked with its necessary steps.

  11. @ JIA LEVY. Jerusalem artichoke is an awesome ingredient to increase the iodine level in your body. This will really be a beneficial ingredient to both your health and body. You can consume Jerusalem artichoke in both the raw and cooked format. If you want to consume it in a raw format, then you can slice them into a few small pieces and add them along with your salad and have it for a meal or a snack. The taste of Jerusalem artichoke when consumed in raw format will be light savory and nutty. You can also have it in a cooked format. The other easiest and the most effective ways to consume it is by preparing a soup with the Jerusalem Artichoke. You can take a small bowl and add about 1 cup of purified water into it. Then you can add a few slices of onions and garlic into the hot boiling water. You can also add celery along with this into the hot boiling water. Let the water be boiling for about 5 minutes. This will make the celery and onions to become very soft. Now you can add the Jerusalem artichoke along with the cooked onions into the water. Now place the hot boiling water under a low flame and allow the Jerusalem artichoke to get stain very well in the water for a few minutes. Now switch off the boiler and remove the bowl from the heat. Then use a strainer or a filter to filter the Jerusalem artichoke soup in a separate cup by leaving the residues behind. You can start to consume this soup when it reaches a warm or a bearable temperature. This can help you with a lot of benefits.

  12. Hello people! What will happen to my body and health if I have git affected by thyroid gland due to iodine deficiency? What will be the symptoms of this? How can I know whether I am affected by thyroid glands or not? Are there any tests to identify the thyroid gland infection in my body? If there are any, can you please mention it over here?

  13. @ BERLINE SIMMONS. When you are affected by thyroid gland infection, then automatically the skin in your neck region will get swollen and you will also have pain in your neck region. Once you get this it is must that you have to visit your doctor. Do not leave it as it is by taking some random medications. Do consult your doctor and they will give you proper suggestions regarding the treatment and medications. They will insist you to take a thyroid test to identify whether you are affected by it or not. Once you take the test you can confirm it with the results obtained by the test. Doctors will help you to identify it. Radioactive iodine is the most effective and the most popular treatments to cure the thyroid gland infection in your body.

  16. Hello people! I was having serious health issues three month ago. When I started noticing certain weird changes in my body and health, I suggested my family doctor regarding those change. Then he insisted me to take up a blood test to check whether all the levels of essential things in my body are normal or not. By that time I came to know that the iodine level in my body has become extremely low. And this is the major reason for those changes to be happening in my body that literally affects and spoils my health. Then my doctor suggested me to increase the foods that are rich in iodine content. He also gave me certain medications to consume them regularly for a few days. He also insisted to consume more salads that are rich in iodine content. Then one of my friends shared this article with me a few days back. Then I read the article and started having the Mediterranean Baked Lima Beans and Wild Garlic and Seaweed Pesto daily for my meal and dinner. Now when I took the blood test again very recently, I could see significant changes happening in the level of iodine in my body. It really offered me with the best and the most effective results. Now I find myself more healthier and strong without having any other health issues. 24. Should we avoid intake of iodine when we have acne? I’ve heard often that iodine can cause pimples and acne on your skin. Is that a truth or a myth? If yes, can you please tell how to prevent this?

  25. @ LING UENO. Yeah LING UENO! The statement regarding iodine and acne is true. Though iodine is beneficial to our body, often it turns out to be the major reason for the occurrence of those awful pimples and acne on our face. Most of our food items which we consume daily contain at least a small amount of iodine as salt is present in each and every food items which we consume daily. So, it can be a highly difficult task to avoid the intake of iodine in our day to day lives. When you intake food containing iodide it enters the body. Then the iodine gets mixed along with your bloodstream. This leads to the occurrence of those awful acne lesions on your face and skin. If your body contains an excess amount of iodine, then the excess iodine gets excreted through the oil glands that are present in your skin. So when this excretion occurs, your skin tends to get a lot of irritation and then the pores gets inflamed which leads to the occurrence of acne infections. If you have an acne prone skin then your skin will be too sensitive when you consume food containing iodine.
