Easy Seaweed Salad
|Brown seaweed||1/2 cup|
|Cold water||5 cups|
|Brown rice vinegar||1 tbsp|
|Soya sauce||3 tbsp|
|Agave nectar||1 tbsp|
- Take a bowl and add 1/2 cup seaweed to it.
- Add water and soak it for 20 minutes.
- Once it turns green, keep it aside.
- Make the sauce by mixing together 1 tbsp of vinegar, 3 tbsp of soya sauce, and 1 tbsp agave nectar.
- Adjust the proportions according to your preference.
- Boil the seaweed in water for 30 seconds.

- Heat it up for a few minutes.
- Make small balls out of this mixture and press them from hand to give it a pattie shape.
- Fry and brown the hamburgers on both sides.
- Once fried enough, remove and leave them on absorbent paper.

- If you have problems with the fried foods you can also do it in the oven.

- Stir all the ingredients well.
- Let the chia absorb all the water for at least one hour.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and spray your bread pans with coconut oil.

Mung Bean Burger With Mushroom and Kale
|Sunflower seeds||2 1/2|
|Mung beans||7 ounce|
|Tomato Puree||1 tbsp|
|Virgin olive oil||1 tbsp|

- Using a food processor, turn the sunflower seeds into bread crumbs consistency.
- Chop half an onion and toss it in a saucepan.
- Saute till it becomes golden-brown.
- Slice the mushrooms and cook for about 5-10 minutes.

- Take a bowl and add 1/2 cup mung beans, 1 cup quinoa, 10 tomato cherries, 1 shaved sweet corn, 1/4th cup mint and 1/4th cup chopped parsley.
- Mix them all well and toss.

- Take a blender and add 1 cup almond milk, 1 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup pineapple, 1/2 cup apple, frozen acai- 1 oz and a handful of baby spinach.
- Blend it till it forms a smooth texture.

|Frozen lima beans||1 3/4th cup|
|Apple cider vinegar||1 tbsp|
|Onion powder||1/4 Tsp|

- Take a medium bowl and add 1 cup full worth cashew and fill it up with water.
- Allow it to sit for a minimum of 60 minutes.
- Drain water and rinse cashews.
- In another bowl, gently toss 1 and 3/4th cup of frozen lima, 1 cup of parsley, olive oil, and juice of 1/4 lemon.
- Combine well.
- Season to taste.
- Set aside.

Edamame Seaweed Salad
|Dried seaweed||1/2 cup|
|Onion powder||2 green|
|Rice vinegar||2 tbsp|
|Maple syrup||2 tbsp|
|Soya sauce||2 tbsp|
|Sesame seeds||1 tbsp|
- Take a saucepan and fill it with water.
- Add 3 cups of edamame to it and boil it for 3 minutes.
- Drain it once the boiling is done.
- Soak the 1/2 cup seaweed in cold water and leave it for 15 minutes.
- Drain this as well.
- For the dressing, combine 2 chopped green onion, 1 tbsp of chopped ginger, 2 tbsp of rice vinegar, 2 tbsp of maple syrup, and 2 tbsp of soy sauce.
- Give it a good mix.
- Add the boiled edamame and soaked seaweed to a bowl.
- Pour on the freshly made dressing to it.
- Mix it well.

Wild Garlic and Seaweed Pesto
|Wild garlic||7 oz|
|Wakame seaweed||3 oz|
|Nori seaweed||Half sheet|
|Sesame seeds||1-2 tbsp|
|Olive oil||As required|
|Umeboshi Vinegar||To taste|
|Sea salt||To taste|
|Black pepper||To taste|
- Take a bowl and add wakame seaweed into it. Soak it in water for 2 hours minimum.
- Take cloves of garlic and keep it into salt water for 2 minutes.
- Drain it and then mash it. Transfer this to ice water quickly.
- Take a saucepan and roast the sesame seeds over medium heat.
- Stir till it goes golden-brown.
- Toast the nori sheet in a skillet.
- Take a blender and add 1-2 tbsp of sesame seeds into a paste. Add the wakame, the nori, and the garlic into it.
- Add a small drizzle of olive oil or water as needed.
- Use a little umeboshi, black pepper and salt to taste.
Seaweed are excellent souce of iodine and adding it to the meal will ensure that you never suffer from iodine deficiency.
Seaweed and Tofu Poke
|Soy sauce||3 tbsp|
|Sesame seeds||2 tbsp|
|Lemon juice||2 Tsp|
- Take a bowl and add 2 tbsp of dried wakame to 2 cups of water. Let it sit.
- Rinse the tofu with water and squeeze firmly to extract as much juice possible out of it.
- Meanwhile, take a large mixing bowl and add 3 tbsp of soy sauce, 2 tbsp of sesame seeds, 2 Tsp of lime juice, 2 finely chopped garlic, 1/2 cup chopped red onion, 1/2 Tsp of ginger, and 2 finely chopped green onion into it.
- Take the tofu and cut into small cubes.
- Add them to the mixing bowl.
- Drain the water from the seaweed, rinse it with water and add it to the bowl.
- Gently stir all the ingredients until they are all combined.
- Eat right away or chill in the fridge.
- Serve cold.
Tofu and seaweed both are excellent sources of iodine and are a go to in case of deficiency. This hawaiian dish will cure your iodine needs as well as satisfy your taste palate.
Chinese Seaweed Salad
|Spice Broth||1/4th cup|
|Sesame oil||1 Tsp|
|Sesame seeds||1 Tsp|
|Cumin seed||1 Tsp|
|Sichuan peppercorn||1 Tsp|
|Fennel seeds||1 Tsp|
|Cinnamon stick||1 piece|
|Water||1 1/2 cup|
To Make The Dressing:
- Take a bowl and add 1/4 cup spice broth, 1 Tsp of sesame oil and 1 tbsp tahini.
- Mix them well.
- Set aside.
To Make the Main Dish
- Take a large bowl and soak 2 oz worth kelp seaweed in warm water for 10 minutes.
- Allow it to swell.
- Rinse and drain and cut the seaweed into thin slices.
- Take a saucepan and bring 1 and half cup water to a boil.
- Add the sliced and soaked seaweed to the boiling water and let it boil for 1 minute.
- Rinse the seaweed with cold water using a strainer and drain well.
- Place the seaweed in the mixing bowl with the shredded carrot and cilantro.
- Pour the prepared dressing into the mixing bowl and gently toss.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve cold.
To Make the Broth:
- Place 1 1/2 cups water and add 1 tsp of cumin seeds, 1 tsp Sichuan peppercorn, 1 tsp fennel seeds, 1-star anise, 1 clove, 1/2 piece tsaoko fruit, 2 bay leaf, 4 pieces ginger, 1 piece cinnamon stick to it.
- Bring the water to boil and keep the heat to medium.
- Boil it for 30 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it cool down.
- Strain the broth through a very fine mesh strainer to remove spices.
A broth with fresh veggies is the best way to a healthy meal. Kelp seaweed is the perfect and preferred souce of iodine to this dish. Consuming it will help you better your health from within whilst curing you off all health problems.
Seaweed Green Smoothie
- Take kelp and chop them into fine pieces.
- Chop 1 apple into small pieces as well.
- Scoop out half an avocado.
- Take a blender and toss all these ingredients into it.
- Add 1 cup worth coconut water into it.
- Give it a good blend.
- Strain it get rid of any residues and chunky pieces.
- Drink it up to fill your body with an abundance of iodine.
Kelp is a seaweed and hence get its iodine content from the sea itself. This makes it one amongst the other ingredient to provide natural iodine.
Seaweed Salad With Toasted Sesame Dressing
|Cold water||2 tbsp|
|Soy sauce||2 tbsp|
|Agave Nectar||2 tbsp|
|Sesame oil||1 tbsp|
|Fresh ginger||1/2 Tsp|
|Toasted sesame seeds||Handful|
|Rice vinegar||2 tbsp|
- Take a bowl and add 1 oz of preferred seaweed into it.
- Add cold water to it and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Drain the water and squeeze out any excess liquid. Set aside.
- Take another bowl and combine 2 tbsp of rice vinegar, 2 tbsp of soy sauce, 2 tbsp of agave, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1/2 Tsp ginger and 1 garlic.
- Mix well and taste to adjust the seasoning.
- Add the seaweed with part of the dressing.
- Take a plate and use the cucumber and carrots first.
- Top them both with the seaweed salad.
- Add more dressing as desired.
- Garnish with scallions and toasted sesame seeds.
This salad is a healthy munchy and can be consumed for a healthy dose of iodine in the body.
Mediterranean Baked Lima Beans
|Lima beans||1 cup|
|Bouillon cube||1 vegetable|
|Olive oil||2-3 tbsp|
|Wine vinegar||1 Tsp|
|Tomato paste||1 tbsp|
|Maple Syrup||1-2 tbsp|
|Salt and pepper||To taste|
|Fresh mint||3 tbsp|
- Soak 1 cup of lima beans into the water for at least 8 hours.
- Place them in a large pot with cold water and 1 bay leaf.
- Cover and bring to a boil, then lower the heat to medium heat.
- Simmer the beans for 30 minutes and drain it after that reserving one cup worth water and bay leaf.
- Mix a bouillon cube in the reserved cup of hot bean liquid and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Lightly grease an oven dish. Heat olive oil and add the garlic and onion till onion turns translucent.
- Add 1 carrot to it and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Next, add the tomatoes, reserved bean water, red wine vinegar, tomato paste, maple syrup, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Mix all of them and boil in a lower heat for 10-12 minutes.
- Check the seasoning and add more salt and pepper, if needed.
- Transfer the beans, parsley, and mint to the baking dish and cover it with foil.
- Bake the beans for 30-40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Remove from the oven, remove the bay leaf, and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
Carrots, tomatoes and parsley all are rich sources of iodine and when added to the menu, can add a tinge of healthy to it.
Baked Lentils And Vegetable
|Lemon juice||1 tbsp|
|Vegetable stock||6 tbsp|
- The first step would be pre-heating the oven to a 350 F.
- Take an onion and poke it with 3 cloves from different directions.
- Take the lentils and keep it in a casserole dish along with the onion and vegetable stock.
- Cover and bake it for one hour.
- Take 2 potatoes, 1 pepper, 3 zucchini, 2 carrots and 1 celery stalk and cut and chop them into pieces.
- After 1 hour, take the onion out, pluck out the cloves, chop it and put it in a casserole with other chopped veggies.
- Mix it well and season it as per your liking.
- Cover it again and leave it to bake for an hour.
- Take it out after an hour and finish it by squeezing some lemon on it.
Fresh vegetables are known to have iodine way more than any cooked or processed food. They get it from the soil and the antiseptics that are used on them during the cultivation period.
Now that you are well aware of the benefits that iodine has on your body, the ways to prevent it and mainly the ingredients and recipes that can help you with an iodine intake, implement them in your life to live a better and healthier life. However, keep in mind that excess of anything is dangerous and consumption of iodine beyond its average consumption can also cause a severe health problem.
Maintain the amount of iodine consumption and you will never have to face problems like a goitre. And if consumption of all this seems too much of a task, there are a lot of ways that you can prevent iron deficiency. There are supplements available which will be an easier way to get iodine into the body, but they come with excess iodine that as mentioned can cause health problems.
