#1. Henna Paste Dye

Things Required:

Fresh lime juice  a few drops
Henna leaves or powder  1 to 2 tbsp
Yogurt or distilled water  As per the requirement
Indigo leaves or powder  1 tbsp
Shower cap  1
Gloves  1
Brush  1

Directions To Do:

  1. For obtaining the appropriate chocolate brown shade, you will be requiring the henna leaves and the indigo leaves in the ratio of about 70:30 or 60:40.
  2. If you prefer taking the leaves, then you have to grind those leaves until it turns to a fine paste.
  3. Then put the ground paste or the henna and indigo powders into a small bowl.
  4. Add the yogurt or distilled water into the bowl containing the henna mixture.
  5. You can adjust the amount of the yogurt depending on the consistency of the paste.
  6. Then add a few drops of fresh lime juice and stir the mixture well to make the ingredients get combined well.
  7. Now the henna dye paste is obtained.
  8. You can either apply the paste on your hair using your fingers or a brush.
  9. If you are applying it using your fingers, then wear gloves to avoid the stains from getting stuck on your hands.
  10. Start applying the paste all over your hair by dividing it into a few small sections.
  11. Once you are done with the application process, cover your hair with a shower cap.
  12. Allow the paste to get dry for about 3 to 4 hours so that the color gets stuck well on your hair.
  13. Now you can start to wash your hair with warm or cold water by using any herbal shampoo.

Repetitions:

  • During the initial stages, you have to color for every 20 to 3o days.
  • Then you can color it every 45 days.

#2. Soy Sauce Dye

Things Required:

Apple cider vinegar  1/2 cup
Soy sauce  1/2 cup

Directions To Do:

  1. Firstly, take a bowl and add the given ingredients into it.
  2. Then stir the mixture well to make them get combined together.
  3. Place the bowl aside and leave it undisturbed for a few minutes.
  4. Now you have to wash your hair with your regular shampoo and conditioner.
  5. Once you are done washing your hair with the conditioner, do not dry it.
  6. Take the mixture kept in the bowl and pour it on your hair gently.
  7. Rinse your hair well with that mixture.
  8. Then do not wash your hair with water after pouring the mixture on your hair.
  9. Wait until the mixture gets dry naturally on your hair.

Repetitions:

  • Once in a week.

#3. Cocoa Powder Dye

Things Required:

Cocoa powder  1/2 cup
Apple cider vinegar  1 tbsp
Raw honey  1 tbsp
Distilled water  As per the requirement

Directions To Do:

  1. Take a bowl and add the given ingredients one by one into it.
  2. You can adjust the amount of water to be added based on the consistency of the mixture that is obtained.
  3. Also, you can prefer adding the apple cider vinegar and distilled water in equal amounts.
  4. Once all the ingredients are added, start to stir the mixture well using a spoon until a fine and smooth paste is obtained.
  5. Then rinse your hair with a small amount of shampoo.
  6. Now start to apply the cocoa mixture all over your wet hair.
  7. After that, leave the paste to be there on your hair for about 10 to 15 minutes until it becomes dry.
  8. Then you can start to wash your hair with warm or cold water. You can also use a mild herbal shampoo while washing your hair with the water.

Repetitions:

  • Initially, you have to use this mask 3 times a week until you notice the color change in your hair.

#4. Walnut Shell

Things Required:

Shells of unripe walnuts  of a few walnuts
Salt  a few pinches
Distilled water  As per the requirement
Alum  1 small piece

Directions To Do:

  1. Firstly, soak the shells in some water and salt for 3 days.
  2. Then add 3 cups of hot boiling water and simmer for about 5 hours. Keep on replacing the evaporated water.
  3. Strain the dark-colored liquid from the shells using a cloth.
  4. Heat this natural dye in a pot to reduce it to 1/4th of its original volume & add a small piece of alum.
  5. Apply the natural dye, this will first give a yellowish color, and then a dark brown color.

Repetitions:

  • Once a month, until you notice the color change in your hair. You can adjust the number of walnut shells to achieve your choice of shade.

#5. Coffee Dye

Things Required:

Coffee (ground)  2 tbsp
Distilled water  As per the requirement
Shampoo (any)  1
Conditioner (any)  1
Shower cap  1

Directions To Do:

  1. Firstly, prepare about 2 cups of coffee using the ground coffee and distilled water without adding sugar or any other ingredients into it.
  2. Then pour the prepared coffee into a bowl and add an equal amount of conditioner which you use regularly on your hair.
  3.  Stir the mixture well using a spoon to make them get mixed together.
  4. Now use your regular shampoo and wash your hair to remove any impurities present in your hair.
  5. Squeeze and remove if there is any excess water present in your hair.
  6. Then pour the prepared coffee mixture all over your hair gently.
  7. Strat to massage your hair with the coffee mixture using your fingertips.
  8. Then cover your hair using a shower cap.
  9. Allow your hair to get dry for about one hour.
  10. Now start to rinse your hair with water and your regular shampoo.
