Steps To Perform

  1. While performing a jumping jack, it is important to stand straight. Keep your shoulders and jaw relaxed. Hold your head up without bending your neck.
  2. Keep your arms relaxed beside your body.
  3. Your feet should be placed directly straight to your shoulder. The gap between your legs should not exceed your shoulder width.
  4. Now slowly bend your knees and start hopping from the ground.
  5. As soon as you start hopping, start lifting your arms above your head until it reaches the shoulder width apart like the feet.
  6. While jumping, spread your legs wide than your shoulder width. This should be done simultaneously while lifting your arms above your head.
  7. Depending upon your height, leave the space between your legs while landing on the ground. When you land the space between your legs should be wider enough to stand comfortably.
  8. Do not keep your arms and knees very erect. You can bend your arms and knees a little to prevent yourself from falling and any injuries.
  9. Then gently move your legs and hands to the initial position. Your arms should be placed in your sides and legs should be in a shoulder-width apart.
  10. Repeat the same process for about 10 to 20 minutes for getting effective results.

The jumping jack exercise can be used as a warm up exercise before starting to perform any cardio exercises[3]. You can vary the time for performing this depending upon your fitness. If you are not fit enough, this might even look like a workout for you.

Squat

A squat is a full body exercise which strengthens the muscles in your thighs, hips and buttocks. It also strengthens the bones and the ligaments in the lower portion of your body. There are a lot of ways for performing squats. The most common way to perform it is as follows.

Steps To Perform

  1. Initially stand straight by placing your feet a little wider than your hip width. Your toes should be placed in such a way that it faces front.
  2. Now slowly move your hip towards backward bending your knees and ankles. Press your knees such that it becomes slightly open.
  3. Bend your hip and move deep as much as you can up to 90 degrees or even more. If you have any knee pain or other issues, then don’t bend above 90 degrees.
  4. During this, your heels and toes should be placed on the ground. Also, make sure that your thighs are parallel to the floor.
  5. While performing this you can either stretch your hands or bend it and hold together.
  6. If you stretch your hands, make sure that it is straight to your shoulders.
  7. If you bend your hands, join both the hands together. Bend the elbows of your hands and hold the upper portion of your hands erect facing upwards. Join both the hands using your fingers and hold them together.
  8. Once the squat is done, pull your knees inwards and your hip forward for returning back to the normal position. You have to stand erect with your feet wide opened on the ground.
  9. Continue the same process for about 10 to 20 times. This will offer you better and effective results.

Squats make your body to be more stable and flexible. It also burns a lot of calories[4] and the excess fat[5] present in your body.  This will make you to lose weight faster in a short span of time.

High Knees

High knees can be performed as one of the warm-up exercises before performing heavy workouts. Athletes will prefer doing this exercise as this will increase their running speed.

Steps To Perform

  1. At first stand in an upright position with your head facing straight. Now bend your arms placing it in front of you. The arms should be placed in a jogging position.
  2. Your feet should be placed far away from one another. This distance can be of your shoulder-width.
  3. Now start lifting one of your legs up. Lift your leg as much as you can from the ground. When you do this, the other leg should be placed on the ground in a straight position.
  4. This should appear like you are jogging by standing in the same place. Repeat the same process with the alternate legs for about 10 to 15 seconds. You can continue doing this as long as you can.

The high knees exercise is also termed as a running exercise. This is being widely used as one of the most common warm up exercises. Your belly fat gets reduced when you do this workout regularly. It also helps in reducing the fat in your thighs and legs. This helps in making you look thin and fit.

Lunges

Lunges is widely used by athletes and gym trainers as it is a fitness exercise. It is well known for strengthening and shaping your muscles.

Steps To Perform

  1. Initially stand straight by placing your body in an upright position.
  2. Your feet should be placed apart with some distance. This distance can be of your hip-width.
  3. Now using your right leg, take a big step and place your leg in a forward position. When you are shifting and placing the leg, your heel should hit the floor at first.
  4. Bend and bring your lower body down, until your right thigh is parallel to the ground. Your right sin should be placed vertically to the ground.
  5. You should bend and place your left knee on the ground while moving the right one.
  6. Then press your right heel and return back to the normal standing position.
  7. Repeat the same process with alternate legs for a few times.

The Lunges workout helps in providing a definite shape to your body by acting effectively on the body muscles. The main important portion of this workout is the stretching of body muscles. Performing lunges for about 15 minutes can help you in reducing about 150 calories. This can help you in reducing your body weight[6] very soon and effectively.

Wall Sit

This workout is similar to the position you sit on a chair. They are generally used for strengthening quadriceps muscles.

Steps To Perform

  1. At first, stand with your back facing the wall. Make sure that you stay 18 to 24 inches away from the wall.
  2. Make your feet to be wider with a shoulder-width apart.
  3. Start leaning your back against the wall. You can also use your hands for having support while leaning.
  4. You should also bend your knees and ankles while leaning back against the wall.

  6. Check whether your feet and ankles are placed in a proper position. You can also adjust the positions if it is not proper. Do not bend too much when you have any knee problems. Then this might cause a lot of pain in your knees.
  7. Hold this wall sit position for about a  few minutes. Then return back slowly to the normal standing position. Repeat the same process for about 10 to 15 minutes. This can help you in decreasing your weight and also increasing your body stability.

This workout is widely known for building up the muscular endurance. They increase the stamina in your body while doing it regularly.   2. Now bend yourself and make yourself to be in a squat down position. You should place your hands on the ground in front of your feet.

  16. Hey guys, let me tell you a weight loss secret. It s dogs! My adorable dog Banana is a wonderful weight loss coach. He is always eager and ready to help me workout and burn calories to lose my weight. Maybe, he does not do that for that reason but still I am losing weight aren’t I? Just take your cutie pet for a long walk or take them to the park and have a fun play session. This is a great way to burn calories every day if you do not like exercising too much.

  19. @ Iris Hammond – There are many simple ways to exercise which will slim down your belly quickly as can be. Running, jogging, cycling are great ways to reduce the belly fat and engaging too. I always feel great after my morning run and it is the best way to start my day. I do not go to the gym but just do a lot of walking and running and stuff and I am at a nice weight and I do not gain weight easily too and I pretty much eat what I want but in moderation. That is the best advice I can give, just be as active as you can in your daily life. But everybody’s life is different, if you cannot be active all the time, for instance if you have long hours in office/desk job. Then, you should make time for exercising. You can take up cycling and do calisthenic way of exercising if you do not want to go to the gym for any reason.

They love food and cooking and the house is never without some tasty dish or other around the corner wafting is delicious aromas all over the house. If you are drinking smoothies made from healthy ingredients like fruits and veggie, you should be fine for the most part. What you should do is, count the calories the smoothie is going to provide you and then just remove them from your daily allowance. If you are looking to lose weight, it could be really useful to analyze the amount of calories your body need and then just counting your calories which you consume and making sure to keep a calorie deficit so that you keep losing weight gradually.   27. @ Winona Lucas – Hi Winona, you are probably finding it hard to give up junk food because you are trying to give it up all at once. That is not the way this works. Your body is used to the food and also the high amounts of sugar which junk food commonly has. The sugar gives your body energy and the infamous sugar high. So your body is not ready if your suddenly take away all that sugar. You need to take small baby steps to start out. Reduce your sugar and junk food intake gradually and slightly over the days. Keep cutting out thing one by one, like first stop drinking sugary sodas, then stop eating junk chips and candy etc. Keep on going and persevere until there is no junk stuff in your diet. I also have to add that do not think that you will never be able to have that pizza ever again that you love so much. Of course, you can have cheat days, but to have cheat days you need to adopt a healthy lifestyle and routine first. I wish you all the best in losing your weight, I know you can do it!
