What are the Generic Name(s) ?

Generic name for Asthalin is Salbutamol. It contains 100 mcg salbutamol per metered dose. It’s a beta-agonist and broncho-dilator that is used to treat and relieve symptoms of bronchitis and asthma. It is also used in treatment of wheezing, shortness of breath and to clear the blockage in chest.

How does it work ?

This drug contains broncho-dilator substance called Salbutamol. It directly shows action on the tiny airways called bronchioles in the lungs.

Asthma attacks are triggered by the contraction of smooth muscle surrounding the bronchiole. This causes the narrowing of the airways and causes asthma attack. Salbutamol binds to the beta receptors on the smooth muscle and relaxes the contracted tissues. This reduces narrowing the airways and allows the airways to open. Due to this the patient can breathe in and out easily.

This medication can be is used in treatment of following indications :

How effective is this medicine ?
