What is the generic name (s)?

Cypon syrup has the following generics , also given is their composition with respect to their individual strength per 5 ml of the syrup:

  • Choline[1] – 275mg
  • Cyproheptadine[2] – 2mg

How does it work ?

This syrup works by activating cholesterol[3] particle present in the cell membrane and retaining more water in them. It also promotes the degeneration of liver[4]. Cyproheptadine, generic component of this syrup is an antihistamine[5]. It is useful in combating allergic conditions. To fight the symptoms of allergy[6] it inhibits the actions of a naturally occurring substance in the body called histamine[7].

This Syrup is administered in prevention, control and treatment of following disease and conditions:

This drug is classified by FDA as pregnancy category ‘B’ No risk in other studies: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.
