Mometasone furoate is a glucocorticosteroid used topically to reduce inflammation of the skin or in the airways, Mometasone and other corticosteroids circulate easily in the blood, crossing cellular membranes and binding with cytoplasmic receptors, resulting in the transcription and synthesis of protein.

What are the Side Effects ?
Though the side effects due to interactions of the individual ingredients of skinlite cream are not known, below are the side effects of the individual ingredients:
Hydroquinone : Some of the side effects of hydroquinone include Mild skin irritation, burning, erythema & stinging. Hydroquinone has been linked to ochronosis (skin darkening and disfiguration). This product has a weaker formula i.e., 2% compared to 4% in the prescription creams like Lustra, Tri-Luma, and EpiQuin Micro, so it is relatively safe when used for short duration.
Hydroquinone has been on cancer watch list of FDA and it’s usage has been quite controversial, especially because life time usage of hydroquinone on animals has been linked to increased risk of cancer due to ochronosis. Reportedly there are no cancer cases in human beings linked to hydroquinone till date, so weaker strength (0.5% to 2%) Hydroquinone is still available in some of the over the counter products, while stronger (4%) Hydroquinone is only available on prescription.
Tretinoin: Some of the side effects of Tretinoin are skin redness, itching , scaling and mild burning. Initially when you start applying Tretinoin on your skin, it will worsen the acne in first 2 – 4 weeks, this will taper with continued usage. As Tretinoin will make your skin dry, it is suggested that you use a good moisturiser in the day time.
