  1. Which according to you folks is the best essential oil for skin lightening? My skin is not sensitive at all. Touch wood. And I can experiment with it a lot. I do that as well. Trying out different masks and routines on it. I make sure I protect them always. I would love to try out an oil that is highly voted. So kindly drop in your suggestions and I will try that out using one of the above mentioned recipes. Or maybe all of them. 😀

  2. Can I use an essential oil directly onto my skin or do I have to necessarily mix it with some other ingredient? I have very high hyper pigmentation and I want a solution to it.

  3. Not really. I think even if you get it done as a surgery it is not permanent. You will have to take care of it by using a lot of products on it natural as well as market bought to maintain the complexion. The first rule in doing so would be applying a sunscreen as soon as you are done with your daily shower routine. Apply sunscreen and then seal the deal with moisturizer.

  4. Not at all. If you do it at home the treatment first of all is super mild and can be easily affected by sun, its UV rays and also some of the products that you use. It is no different when you get it done by a dermatologist.

  5. I am in absolute love with sandalwood essential oil and it also comes with properties that naturally lightens the skin. It contains properties that naturally contributes to it and I love mixing it with bare rose water and using it on my face as a mask. You can either try that or use one of the recipes mentioned above. It will show visible results from the very first day without fail. It also contains astringent and cicatrizant properties that help to rejuvenate the skin making it look healthy as ever.

  6. NEVER!! Essential oils are very strong and even a slight of aroma of it inhaled directly can make one nauseous. I would suggest always always mix it with other ingredients before using it. This way you don’t just protect your skin form harsh reactions and burns but also provide it the benefits of the mixing ingredients too.

  7. The answer will be a straight up no and from experience. I used it once just cause my skin was facing acne problem and I wanted to treat it asap because I had my homecoming coming for which I wanted to look flawless. I used the essential oil directly onto my skin and hours after that my whole face was irritated and fuming. Never do this, you problems might take a little longer to leave if you mix it with other ingredients cause the effects go a little mellow sometimes, but it is the ideal way to do it. Trust me.

  8. I have a lot of dark spots on my skin. They look like patches and it becomes very difficult to hide them even from makeup cause I have to either go a shade entirely darker to match them or go 2 shades lighter which ends up making me look nothing short of a ghost. Please help me. I am a teen and I cannot let this stress me out.

  9. Love this article. I am a huge fan of essential oils and I keep reading about their origins and how I can use it for my benefits. Loved the article. Will try a few of them sometimes and drop down a review.

  10. I am in an absolute awe of lavender essential oil but it is also one amongst the most common essential oil available in the market. There are a lot of dupes for it which are highly diluted and leaves no effect whatsoever. Can someone please list down the top 5 or 3 best lavender oil that I can trust and buy blindly.

  11. Well, when it comes to skin or hair, there is nothing and nobody you should blindly trust. Always go with the practical side and try patch tests before using them for starters. Also look out for reviews and try to trace the type of skin that most people fall into, this way it will become easier for you to understand if it suits you or not. You can also try to trace it in the description box.

  12. Absolutely. Lavender oil is my personal favorite too cause it smells divine and totally therapeutic. Listing down my most favorites. These are all tried and tested. I have a slightly combination skin. My T-zone and neck are mostly oily but my skin otherwise is dry.

    1. Majestic Pure Lavender Oil
    2. Radha Beauty Essential Lavender Oil
    3. NOW Foods Lavender Oil
    4. First Botany Cosmeceuticals Pure Lavender Oil
.5 Soft By Nature Pure Lavender Oil

The best place to source all of this would be online. Also if you have any ayurvedic shop near by, they can also provide you with authentic essential oil which you can use without a doubt.

  13. I was a true non-believer of skin lightening and whitening because I always thought it is just companies way of minting money from customers wherein the product is doing absolutely nothing. But then my sister showed me this article. I was not even aware that essential oils can be used on skin and hair. I always thought it was just for therapy where they burn it for the aroma to relax the mind. Considering it was semi natural, I thought it will not be such a bad idea to give it a try. I did and I was shocked. I always wanted a very natural change to my skin complexion, something that market products were failing to do. I tried this and it got a natural glow to my skin. I opted for the Argan oil, lemon juice mix and it broke my non belief completely. I suggest this to everyone who is comfortable with the skin tone they have but wouldn’t mind going a shade down but in the most natural way possible.

  14. Never knew essential oil were capable of skin lightening. I always thought it worked more towards the relaxing fields. Loved it. Very curious about the rose hip oils result. I have it in abundance and I was using it only for my hair, will try one of the recipes using it for skin lightening too. Thank you glowpink.

  15. On my 21st birthday my best friend gifted me a suitcase that had all the essential oil samples and 6 full size bottles of the most commonly used essential oil. I had pretty much used up the samples but I had this carrot oil which I had not touched till date. Frustrated from my lack of interest in using up the oils, my best friends researched a little and found herself scrolling through this article. She has always heard me cribbing about dark patches that my skin have grown and how I never wanted to invest on chemicals to treat it. She suggested this to me and I started using the recipes, alternating between sesame oil and carrot oil, cucumber and carrot oil, coconut oil and carrot oil. I think it was a month that I saw the spots fading. I was excited beyond explanation. I have been trying to deal with these marks from ages and nothing worked. I think I will give other essential oil also a fair chance on my skin. Thank you tones glowpink.

  16. I have used olive oil directly on my skin but didn’t see anything major in terms of changes. Can someone please tell me if it truly works?

  17. I have an extremely oily skin and I am not sure if I should use any sort of oil on my skin. I have a dark skin and i would love to find out a way to lighten it at least by a shade.

  18. You don’t have to worry about having an oily skin before using essential oil @Lily. Essential oil is known to seep into the pores to suck out the excess oil and cleanse it to avoid all sort of bacteria. If you are genuinely scared then you can try to avoid coconut oil and other carrier oils and stick to only essential. However, make sure you mix them with other ingredients and not use it raw.

  19. I was scared about using oils on my skin as well considering I have an extremely oily skin too. I am sure mine is worse a situation then yours. I have pimple all around the year because my pores clogs up faster than anyone. But I once gave a chance to essential oil ( sandalwood ) and I was surprised that it not only treated my problem of complexion by making it a shade lighter, it also cured the problem of excess oil from my skin and cleansed my pores from the deepest roots.

  20. Can I use essential oil of my choice every day to lighten my skin? I want to see visible results as fast as possible.

  21. Well, don’t we all love and want that. But I don’t think that would be the best way to go about it. Essential oils are quite powerful and even if they were not, using anything that is mask-like everyday can be harmful for the skin and can also back fire. For starters, it will take away the required moisture away from the skin because every time you use it, it does an intense cleanse ritual on your face. Secondly excess moisture removal will also mean that the glands will secrete excess oil to compensate for the loss. So, once your face is done feeling too dry, it will start getting extremely oily too. This way you will clog up the pore again and the cycle begins. Instead, give it time and use it twice or maximum thrice in a week. This way there will be a nice balance and you will get the maximum benefit too.

  22. Never do anything in excess. It will back fire. Use it twice in a week and use it consistently. You will see the results for yourself.

  23. I love how it covers so many oils giving me an option to choose from the one that best suits my preference.

  24. Can someone please tell me which of the above given recipes help the most when it comes to a dry skin. I have dry skin that peels during winters. The situation goes that bad. I would love to lighten my skin but not at the stake of making my skin even more dry.

  25. I have heard from a lot of people that honey made their skin even more tanned and dark. is it really true? Cause i was genuinely interested in trying out the olive oil, honey and baking soda on my face for skin whitening.

  26. I am 30 years old and because of a dark complexion I have been trying out a lot of products ranging from synthetic to natural. Nothing worked. I am not entirely convinced that the essential oil trick works. Is it really true. My skin is sensitive and I wouldn’t want to try something that would trigger my skin a lot. Anyone who used more than 2 recipes who saw a visible change please help me with this. I have spent most of my life using products and I have a hard time believing on them now.

  27. I totally get it why you have so many doubts when in it comes to this particular industry. There are a lot of brands who have done nothing except to mint money by making fake promises. My mom also have a dark skin wherein I went on my dad and I have seen her struggle through half her life using endless products to brighten up her skin. I have not used them but I certainly understand your concerns.

  28. I am sure it breaks ones heart when you invest so much time trying out products and shedding endless money. However, to your relief, I have used near about 6 masks from here and I have never been left disappointed. From working on dark patches to spots, the essential oil treated all of them whilst working on my complexion. It simultaneously also worked on my acne and reduced them to an extent that now I have zilch. These can be trusted and if it fails to lighten you skin it sure will make the existing one healthy. All the best and hope this helped.

  29. I love glowpink. They target such interesting topics that I cannot even in my wildest dream think off. I never though or even imagined that essential oil can be used to lighten the skin. I thought it only helped with cleansing the pores. Kudos to the team. Thank you so much.

  30. Can I leave an essential oil all night on my skin or can it have adverse effects?

  31. While there is no reported side effects to doing that, I would still suggest you don’t do it. Essential oils are a little powerful and even if you mix it with other carrier oils they still possess their strength. I would not advise anyone to keep it for more than an hour on the skin.

  32. Essential oils can very easily oxidize and hence it is important to maintain a similar kind of temperature for it throughout instead of constantly changing it. A refrigerator or a cold dark place somewhere in the corner of your cupboard sounds like a fair deal.

  33. I honestly am not someone who believed in skin whitening and lightening and in fact advised everyone to be comfortable in their own skin. I still abide by it but I have a grown a lot of tanning on my skin which I wanted to get rid off. I am on the duskier side and with a complexion this dark, a tan looks nothing short of a burn. I fought with my own self about weather to use synthetic market products or not. Right when I made my mind to go ahead with it, I saw this article on my feed. I patiently took 15-20 minutes to read through it and when I was done, I had nothing but a faint smile on my face. I am so glad I found this article cause if not this, I would have used the synthetics which would have ended up worsening my skins condition. I opted for the lavender essential oil, cause I haven’t heard of essential oil for skin lightening and I didn’t really wished to invest a huge amount on it. Lavender being the most common, I got it for a very few bucks and then I started using it on. Within a month my tan was naturally gone and I would like to thank the gods for it that I did not try on the market based products. All of you can for sure give it a try. It will be absolutely worth it.
