  2. A noncancerous growth in the wall of the uterus can also lead to menstrual cramps.
  3. Growth in the tissue that lines your uterus can begin to grow on the muscular walls of the uterus, which can also cause this problem.
  4. A Pelvic inflammatory disease can also cause period cramps.
  5. A smaller cervix opening can also cause extreme levels of pain and cause the cramps.

Effective Home Remedies

Ginger Tea

Things you will need:

 Ginger root  1-2 inch
 Water  2 cups
 Lemon Slices  1

Procedure:

  1. Take a vessel and fill it with 2 cups of water. Bring it to a boil.
  2. Take 1-2 inches of ginger root, peel it and chop it in small pieces. You can also choose to grate it.
  3. Take the water off the flame and add the ginger in it. Cover with a lid immediately.
  4. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then strain it in a mug.
  5. Top it with a lemon and drink it up!
  6. If it is too strong, add in a little honey to it and mix them well before drinking.

Drink this every day during the periods and it will provide comfort.

Ginger contains anti-inflammatory properties which help in calming the contraction pain and inflammation down. This eases the abdominal pain.

Lavender And Coconut Oil

Things you will need:

 Lavender Oil  3-4 Drops
 Coconut Oil  1 Tsp

  1. Take a bowl, mix both lavender oil and coconut oil in it.
  2. Take this in between your palms, warm it up and apply it onto your back as well as the lower abdomen.
  3. Massage it gently for 5 minutes and let the skin absorb it.

Lavender oil contains anti-inflammatory properties and massaging it on the back as well as lower abdomen helps in calming the pain caused due to cramps.

Heating Pad

Things you will need:

 Water  2 cups
 Heating Pad  1

Procedure:

  1. Take a vessel and heat 2 cups of water in it.
  2. After its first boil, turn the flame off and set it aside for a few seconds.
  3. Take the heating pad, rinse it off to clean it once and fill it with the hot water.
  4. Close the lid and place it right above the lower abdomen for 10 minutes.
  5. You can also place it on your back for 10 minutes.

Repeat this whenever you feel the cramps getting intense.

Heating pad can be an extremely easy way to release pain as the heat from the pad eases the contraction in the lower abdomen and makes the passing of blood easier.

Essential Oil For Cramps

Things you will need:

 Lavender Oil  9 drops
 Clary Sage Oil  4 drops
 Marjoram oil  4 drops
 Jojoba Oil  As required

Procedure:

  1. Take a glass bottle and add all the above-mentioned essential oils in it.
  2. Fill the remaining bottle with a carrier oil.
  3. Close the lid and shake the bottle in order to mix the ingredients in it.
  4. Take some of the oil-mix in between your palms, rub them a little to generate heat and then apply it onto your lower back and lower abdomen whenever you experience pain.

Repeat this treatment whenever you experience cramps.

Essential oils have a natural anti-inflammatory property which when massaged on the skin helps in releasing pain. Essntial oils are also naturally warming which means that whenever they are massaged on the skin, they provide a sense of relief and comfort. In this case it helps in easing the contraction and with that, the pain.

Lemon Juice Treatment

Things you will need:

 Lemon Juice  1-2 tbsp
 Water  1 Cup
 Honey  1 tbsp

  1. Take 1 cup of water in a vessel and bring it to a boil.
  2. After the first boil, take it off the flame and transfer it into a mug.
  3. Add about 1-2 tbsp of lemon juice to it and mix it with 1 tbsp of honey for taste.
  4. Mix all the ingredients really well and drink this up.

You can drink this every day as it is great for overall health.

Lemons are known to contains vitamin C which gets absorbed by the body quickly and helps the reproductive system. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties which help in keeping the inflammation that causes the cramps under check.

Epsom Salt For Period Cramps

Things you will need:

 Epsom salt  1 cup
 Warm water  Bathtub full
 Clary sage essential oil  20 drops

Procedure:

  1. Fill a bathtub with warm water.
  2. Add in 1 cup of Epsom salt and 20 drops of clary sage essential oil in it.
  3. Mix it using your hands and take a long bath in this.
  4. If you don’t have a bathtub, you can always use a bucket or a container and use that to do this remedy.

Repeat this on a daily basis as it will only help to disinfect the skin from impurities while providing comfort.

A good long warm bath relaxes the muscles, and mostly it is the cramping muscles that cause the period pain. A long bath will help in settling that feeling and relaxing your body. Clary sage oil helps in cleansing the body and considering it is an essential oil, it also helps in controlling the inflammation in the body, which is also a reason of cramps.
