Rose Water Benefits For Hair

Rosewater can do wonders for hair if used consistently. It can make them look shinier, longer, healthier and above all flawless. Read through these benefits so that the next time you are buying hair care, you add rosewater to your list of masks, oils and shampoos.

Control Oil

An oily scalp[1] is the result of hyperactive sebaceous glands that are responsible to secrete sebum which is a natural oil. Excess of it can cause the hair to look weighed down and also cause scalp infections[2].

  • Rosewaters pH is very close to the hairs’ pH and hence it helps in preventing excess creation of sebum from the sebaceous glands.
  • Rose water helps in removing excess oil without making the hair dry and frizzy, what most shampoos in the market tend to do.

Control Dryness

A dry scalp can be due to less sebum secretion from the sebaceous gland or due to pollution and products that strips the natural oil away. This leads to a scalp and hair that is dry, damaged and frizzy.

  • Rosewater comes with properties that help and soothe the skin.
  • It also moisturises the hair and the scalp and cures the problem of dryness. Mixing it with glycerin enhances the effect of moistening.

Repair Damage

Environmental factors play a major role in how our hair and skin look. Pollution, the dust and the dirt worsens the hair situation making it too dry or too oily, full of scalp infections like dandruff and fungus and also strips away the moisture out of it.

  • Rose water is a great replacement to water and is hence hydrating.
  • It provides the hair as well as the scalp with enough water to breath and then due to its pH similarities with the hair, helps in balancing out the scalp condition.

Improve Hair Growth

Amount of damage that hair goes through causes it to break as it becomes lifeless and without any nutrients. The clogging of pore due to excess oil can also stunt hair growth.

  • Rose water contains vitamin B3, vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E and all these are responsible for faster hair growth.
  • Adding rose water to all your hair care products is all that you have to do to get closer to long and lustrous hair.

Strengthens The Hair

Hair tends to break when growing under a bad scalp condition. If you are facing a lot of breakages it’s the follicle that is causing it. Clogging of follicles due to pollution, wrong products and unhygienic wash care routine can cause a lot of breakages and split ends.

  • Massaging rose water on the scalp increases the blood circulation making the blood rush to the follicles and help with hair growth that is healthy.
  • It also makes the strands grow thicker while adding a natural volume to the hair.

Removes Dandruff

It’s a myth that only dry scalp leads to dandruff. It can very well get accumulated on oily skin as well. Using heavy chemical based products can worsen the situation as its buildup can further clog the pores.

  • Rose water moisturises and conditions the hair without damaging it even for a per cent.
  • It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that kill the bacteria that causes dandruff.
  • Rosewater also helps in loosening any hair care product residue from the hair which can cause pore clogging.

Hair Hydration

As much as your body needs hydration, hair needs it too. It is the hydration part that makes the hair look breathing and healthy.

  • Rose water is a great replacement of water. It hydrates the scalp and clears the pores from all kinds of impurities.
  • Good hydration means a cleaner scalp and a cleaner scalp leads to healthy hair growth.

  5. @ JERIN JOSEPH. Hello JERIN JOSEPH! I don’t think so head lice can be killed with the help of rose water. Rose water is completely for nourishing your scalp and hair and for maintaining a healthy hair and scalp. But then, you don’t have to worry a lot on this. There are few other natural remedies that can really help your daughter to get rid of the head lice problems. You can use neem oil for killing the head lice in your daughter’s hair. For preparing the neem oil, you will require a few neem leaves and about 2 tbsp of coconut oil or any natural oil like almond oil or olive oil of your own choice. But still coconut oil is the best one to be used with the neem leaves. Then you have to take those fresh neem leaves and put them inside a bowl containing coconut oil. Now start heating the bowl that contains the neem leaves and the coconut oil in it. Allow the oil o get boiled very well for a few seconds. This will make the neem leaves to get stained very well inside the coconut oil. Then you will notice a color change happening in the coconut oil. The oil will turn to a slight greenish shade due to the neem leaves. Once you notice the color change, you can remove the coconut oil from the heat. Allow the oil to get cool down for some time. Once it reaches a warm and bearable temperature, you can start applying the neem oil all over your daughter hair and scalp. Make sure that you apply the neem oil in each and every strands of her hair. Then allow it to be there on her hair for about 45 minutes to one hour. After that you can use a small toothed comb on her hair to remove all the head lice from her hair. When you comb you can see head lice coming along with the comb from her hair. After combing well, you can wash her hair with normal or cold water. You can use a herbal shampoo while washing her hair. Follow this regularly until your daughter gets rid of head lice from her hair completely.

  11. Hello every one! I am a 24 year old woman and I have a medium length hair. I have done red ombre on my hair and its been just a weeks I took the hair color treatment on my hair. And last week i visited an amusement park with my friends. The entire day I spent in the chlorine water that was there in the pools and water rides. I did not know that I should cover my hair with a shower cap as chlorine can affect my color. Then, when I came back home I did not see any difference in my hair color on that day. But on the very next day I could see some visible changes in my hair color, I noticed that the bright red color in my hair has got faded and the color looks slightly damaged on my hair. This literally makes me to worry a lot. Because its been just a few days I have taken up the treatment and now my hair has got color damaged. Now I don’t know how to solve this color damage in my hair. Can I use rosewater to solve the color damage in my hair? 12. @LISA SHEIK. Hey LISA SHEIK! I am not sure on the days for how long you tried the rosewater remedy on your hair. Because none of the remedies will show you such quick results within one week. You have to use those remedies for at least 3 to 4 weeks to see some visible changes happening in your hair. I tried the rosewater and fenugreek remedy on my hair for about 1 month continuously. I really noticed some visible changes in my hair and scalp. The white flakes on my scalp and hair started to disappear slowly. And now its been one and half month since I am using this remedy on my hair. And yeah I cannot tell that dandruff has got completely treated from my hair and scalp. But then I can surely tell you that my scalp and hair looks far better now than how it used to be before. I hope that if I use it for some more days, I can surely get rid of dandruff completely from my hair and scalp. So, I recommend you to use the remedy for at least one month continuously to notice any changes or betterment in your hair and scalp. Hopefully i guess this should really work on your hair when you try it like me.

  13. @ EMIYO HUSSAIN. I guess that your suggestions might be correct. And I also used the rose water remedy on my hair for just one week. I did not think in this way that it would offer me the result only when I use it for a few days on my hair. Thanks a lot EMIYO HUSSAIN. This really means a lot to me. We often commit a lot of mistakes and tell that the remedy doesn’t work. Thanks for correcting my mistake. Hope this works on my hair as you said. Let me try it from today.

  14. @ JIA LEVY. Hello JIA LEVY! Before you take up any sort of hair treatment make sure that you have done a proper research on it. You must know what could affect and benefit the hair treatment before you take up them. This can help you in being very cautious in avoiding those things that could affect your hair treatment. And also know that the compounds like sulfur, sulfate and chlorine are the first enemies for your hair and especially when it comes to color treated hair. These compounds have the ability to rip the color entirely off from your hair. This could literally lead to the occurrence of color damage in your hair. And when you take up any color treatment try to avoid exposing your hair to extreme sunlight or chlorine water and sulfate products. Often some shampoos and conditioners that you use will contain sulfur and chlorine compounds in it. Make sure that none of your hair products contains those chemical compounds in them. When coming to the remedy to cure the color damage, you have a certain natural remedies that can help you. You can opt for the rosewater remedies and hot oil massage on your hair. This will help in making your hair retain its natural texture and appearance. But the lost color is lost forever. You only have to take up the treatment again to make it look darker. But then at first concentrate on making your hair retain its original properties. Then go for hair coloring. For this you can suggest your salon professionals. Then can give you a better advice regarding the recoloring of your hair. Till then continue taking up the rosewater remedies and hot oil massage on your hair. You can do this with any oil like coconut oil, almond or olive oil.
