Winters make the skin extremely dry and undernourished. The dryness can cause severe discomfort of chapped lips, cuts in the skin and excess itchiness which can make the day to day task extremely difficult. Here is a DIY facial which you can follow once every three weeks in order to make your skin nourished and moisturized. Follow these steps and get skin which is soft and supple.

Cleanser

The cleanser helps in cleaning the surface of the skin and cleansing the impurities off.

Baking Soda, Coconut Oil And Lavender essential oil

Things you will need:

 Baking Soda  1/4th Cup
 Coconut Oil  1/2 Cup
 Lavender Essential Oil  4 drops

Procedure:

  1. Take a bowl, add 1/4th cup, 1/2 cup of coconut oil and 4 drops of lavender essential oil in it.
  2. Mix all the ingredients really well into a mixture.
  3. Apply this paste onto your face and scrub gently.
  4. Rinse it off using tepid water and finish with a toner.

Repeat using this cleanser twice every day.

Baking soda helps in scrubbing the impurities off. Coconut oil kills the bacteria that cause acne and also work on moisturizing the dry skin. Lavender oil helps in hydrating the skin whilst cleansing the pores.

Exfoliator

Exfoliator helps in scrubbing the impurities off and cleansing the dirt from the depth of the pores as well. It helps in scrubbing the dead skin as well.

Ground almond And Coconut Oil Exfoliator

Things you will need:

 Ground almond  2 tbsp
 Coconut oil  2 tbsp
 Avocado Oil  1 Tsp

Procedure:

  1. Take a bowl, add 2 tbsp of ground almond, 2 tbsp of coconut oil and 1 Tsp of avocado oil in it.
  2. Mix all the ingredients really well.
  3. Apply this onto your skin and gently exfoliate the skin.
  4. Use a gentle circular motion for 1-2 minutes and finally rinse it off using water.
  5. Pat the skin dry.

Repeat this exfoliation process once every week for best results.

Almonds have natural oils in it which helps in exfoliating while nourishing it. Coconut oil also helps in moisturising the skin and avocado oil, with its fatty acids, nourishes the skin.

Steam

Steam helps in opening the pores wide and sucking the impurities out. The essential oil also helps in providing nourishment while steaming.

Essential Oil Steam

Things you will need:

 Dried Lavender  1 tbsp
 Dried Rose petals  1 tbsp
 Dried Calendula  1 tbsp
 Dried Chamomile  1 tbsp
 Geranium essential oil  5 drops
 Lemon Juice  2 tbsp
 Water  1 Bowl Full

Procedure:

  1. Fill 1 bowl with hot water.
  2. Add all the ingredients to it and stir well to mix them well.
  3. To begin the steaming process, place a towel on your head like a tent and lower your face closer to water(make sure you are not very close to the water) to make the rising steam work on the skin.
  4. Do this for 10 minutes and pat the skin dry.

Repeat this treatment while following the complete facial treatment.

Steam helps to open the pores and cleanses the skin off impurities. The oil helps in cleansing the pores while hydrating the skin with excellent amount of nutrients provided by the other ingredients.

Toner

While the cleansing part is done, toner helps in closing the pores and evening out the skin tone.

Witch Hazel Toner

Things you will need:

 Witch Hazel  4 oz
 Vitamin E Oil  1/2 Tsp
 Helichrysum Oil  4-5 drops
 Vetiver Oil  4-5 drops
 Bottle  4 oz

Procedure:

  1. Take a glass bottle, and add all the ingredients in it.
  2. Close the lid and shake well in order to mix all the ingredients really well.
  3. Take a cotton ball and pour this mix onto it.
  4. Apply this onto your face and massage for 1-2 minutes.
  5. You can also directly spray it on your face.

Repeat this every day after cleansing your face.

This toner will help in nourishing your skin and balancing the pH of the skin. The oils will help in nourishing the face while the witch hazel clears the pores and repair skin damage.

Mask

Mask work towards repairing the skin damage and providing adequate nourishment.

Aloe Vera, Olive And Honey Mask

Things you will need:

 Aloe Vera Gel  1 tbsp
 Olive oil  1/2 Tsp
 Honey  1 Tsp

Procedure:

  1. Take a bowl, add 1 tbsp of aloe vera gel, 1/2 Tsp of olive oil and 1 Tsp of honey in it.
  2. Mix all the ingredients really well.
  3. Apply this onto your face and leave it on for 30 minutes.
  4. Wipe it off using clean water and a damp cloth.

Repeat this treatment 2-3 times in a week.

Aloe vera helps in evening the skin tone and olive as well as honey helps in nourishing and moisturizing the skin. Honey also contains antioxidants which help in repairing the flakiness of the skin.

Serum

Serum work towards targeting specific skin problems while also nourishing it. It is a must when it comes to the winter season.

Aloe Vera, Olive Oil And Glycerin

Things you will need:

 Aloe Vera Gel  1
 Olive Oil  1 tbsp
 Glycerin  1/2 tbsp
 Rose water  1 tbsp

Procedure:

  1. Take a bowl, add gel from 1 aloe vera leaf in it.
  2. Using a fork, whip it in order to attain a runny concoction.
  3. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil, 1/2 tbsp of glycerin and 1 tbsp of rosewater in it.
  4. Mix all the ingredients really well.
  5. Apply it onto your skin and massage it in an upward motion.
  6. Leave it overnight and rinse it off using normal water in the morning.
  7. Pat the skin dry and finish with some moisturizer.

Use the mask everynight before going to sleep.

Aloe vera, olive oil and glycerin help in nourishing the face and moisturising the skin. Rose water hydrates the skin and repair skin damage from within.

Moisturizer

Moisturizer helps in nourishing the skin and locking all the goodness in.

Coconut Oil, Shea Butter And Lavender Essential Oil

Things you will need:

 Coconut oil  1/3rd Cup
 Shea butter  1/3rd Cup
 Lavender Essential Oil  10 drops
 Chamomile Oil  5 drops

Procedure:

  1. Take 1/3rd cup of shea butter and melt it using the double-boiler method.
  2. Pour it in a bowl and add 1/3rd cup of coconut oil, 10 drops of lavender oil and 5 drops of chamomile oil in it.
  3. Mix all the ingredients as well.
  4. Wait till it becomes semi-solid and whip it to make it fluffy.
  5. Take some of this fluffy moisturiser in your palm and apply onto the skin. Massage well.
  6. Let it get absorbed, and don’t rinse.

Use this moisturize twice in a day.

Coconut oil helps in nourishing the skin while shea butter moisturizes it. Lavender helps in cleansing the skin and chamomile oil clears the pores.
